2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

….Moyes full of praise for his performances in his post-match interview, smiling at the pen/paper celebration.

I’m perfectly ok giving him another deal, he clearly wants to stay.
If doucoure is playing every week next season then him and Moyes can both go
And the end of next season. Big difference is now Moyes hasnt got his pal Bill looking after him.
He’s got businessmen and hopefully proper football people who can run a football club and be ruthless. Doucoure is nowhere near good enough to push us forward and he’s not the only one, garner, harrsion and beto
Also can’t be starters next year.
Hopefully this rumour of doucoure wanting a 2yr deal, means he goes elsewhere

Moyes wants Doucoure over Alcaraz according to certain rumours from Everton ITK's.

Why mate? If we are going to progress we need to move on from players like this. What good is having a squad with players who have well outstayed their time here. His wages could potentially bring in a better player.

Thanks for some big goals and the dedication and work rate, but time to move on, with all due respect. We need to upgrade the #10 position, in terms of both goals and technical ability, whether it be Ndiaye to the middle, Alcaraz, or even Armstrong next year off his loan spell. His wages could be better allocated toward a winger.

….yep, reasonable that he wants 2 years and he clearly has plenty to offer anywhere in CM. With the contracts mess, we need numbers and he’ll be very useful for Moyes to call on.

I also hope we sign a better quality of player but there’ll be worst options to have around the place than Doucoure, given his versatility, desire to play, fitness and love of the club.

…all for moving on to better quality but it won’t happen in an instant. He’s proven effective, he’s proven fitness, he’s proven attitude and we’ll need those factors in the mid-term.

I think the goal sums up exactly why he plays a lot, and something I said the other week - he lets us ‘cheat’ at both ends at the moment.

Once other elements of the team are stronger he won’t be seen too often in the starting 11 but he’s masking deficiencies across the team currently. We’ve just gone away to 3rd in the league and given them a proper game and nicked a winner - that’s testament to selections like this with this limited squad.

Not really got another player like him who can drop into CM to make a 3/make us compact but also get up the other end and press/give us another option up top and on the break. That’s the 94th minute and he’s got the legs to get up there.

We know how limited he is, just appreciate that he actually puts a shift in and genuinely looks like he enjoys being here. We’ve had some absolute shysters earning similar money to him who got away with far less effort (Schneiderlin/Gomes spring to mind). Once we hopefully strengthen in the summer I don’t think he’ll make many starting 11’s if he is still here.

If we extend his massively overpaid contract by another 2 years I'll be very disappointed.

He’s proven to be ineffective more than effective that’s the point . He scores a couple of goals and then delivers dross. We can’t keep abiding these calibre of players. A good recruitment network could identify a proper replacement this summer who is more consistent and younger.

We have made this mistake too many times in the past. Surely it’s time to stop it.

I don’t understand why mistakes of the past keep getting repeated over and over again and then people wonder why we don’t get anywhere.

Doucoure is a donkey. Donkeys have their uses but not at 120k a week.
