Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act and make a grab for martial law by April 20th.

The fences are going up already.

MARK MY WORDS LIDS!!!
I remember @dylsexicbleu calling Trump a libertarian, but deporting a gay make up artist to a death camp in El Salvador, trying to deport citizens who have lived in the country since they where 7 years old (Yunseo Chung), slapping tariffs on the entire world, and flirting with martial law doesn’t exactly scream ‘libertarian’ to me.

freedom for me but not for thee

That's the 'borosilicate glass sippy cup' market destroyed then. Shame.

Scott Bessent was on TV saying Trump's tariffs of 20% on China in his first term resulted in a less than 1% price increase to the US consumer. If(and I realise that's a big if)accurate then these tariffs are not going to have huge impacts on consumers. If they have minimal impacts on consumers then importers can survive.

These are high risk moves from Trump. Let's see how they play out in a year or two. I encourage everyone to stop panicking in the meantime. And certainly pay little attention to business men and women posting on instagram who have barely felt the consequences yet of these tariffs.

Where were you folk when people were losing well paid manufacturing jobs because of NAFTA or being fired enough masse for not taking a vaccine?
He's making you look a right [Poor language removed]

Nothing more than a puppet for neocon warmongers, will be fun to see how the anti-war MAGAs defend war with Iran.
It's ironic really, previous to him the two places american weapons were being used were Ukraine and Palestine, since he's come in he's picked a fight with everyone else, except putin and netanyahu. He's even gone so far as to provoke an island full of penguins and seals. So this arms massing correlates with his rhetoric. I'm not sure how another trillion onto national debt measures up with efficiency targets, but then, maybe space karen is branching out into further explosive fields. makes michelle mone look like small fry.

These people are nothing but Trump lovers. Cult worshippers. Etc.

There is nothing "conservative" about Trumpism, yet these people talk about being "conservative". We're watching 1984 play out before our eyes.

Sadly, I don't think there is an elixir to reverse the cancer that has spread throughout western civilizations - it's hitting the US really hard right now, but this does exist elsewhere in Western society as well.

I see no end in sight

The "Spanish Flu," or the 1918 influenza pandemic, was a devastating global outbreak of H1N1 influenza A virus, infecting an estimated one-third of the world's population and causing an estimated 50 million deaths.

The Great Depression was a severe global economic downturn from 1929 to 1939, characterized by high unemployment, poverty, and widespread bank and business failures, triggered by the stock market crash of 1929.

It's almost like we've seen all this before. Those that are insulated from staggering purposeful bad decisions are fine, and the rest go through the meat grinder. It's an upscaled version of toryism, "I'm alright Jack!". It's no accident there's so much effort to harness and control AI, because the world of tomorrow requires a lot less people but so much menial work to be done.

Has anyone interviewed the penguins to see if they’re actually bothered? At least got some long range photos suggesting some feathers are ruffled?

There were many hundreds of protests against his government this past weekend. More scheduled in 2 weeks. I think the American people have had enough of these clowns.
Sadly, I don't think MAGA has yet. Things will need to get really bad for his base before that happens, if ever.

The rest of us are fed up. But that really hasn't changed much

How are you holding up, mate?

Are you preparing for another recession in the wake of the new tariffs, or do you believe the markets will bounce back, like Trump, the master economist, has reaffirmed us they will?

I'm 100% preparing for a recession. And here's why

The lunacy of tariffs are one thing. Taking away safety nets for large swaths of people are another. And ultimately chaos in the market is the death knell.

There are many reasons, but one could argue the most important reason the US economy/markets are what they have been historically is because of stability. Stay the course, don't do anything rash, your money is safe here, etc, etc, etc.

Trump blows all that up. Investors with big pockets have no idea what he's going to do from one day to the next. We all saw this coming, but The Wall Street Bros that are acting shocked about what he's doing is because they really did believe through it all that Trump wasn't 1) this stupid and 2) this much of a vengeful egomaniac. Because successful people on Wall Street are typically not the first, and to the second point, they don't want vengeance unless it directly positively enhances their accounts. Trump apparently doesn't care about that.

Trump could take away all the tariffs tomorrow, but now that the big money has awoken to the lunacy of the Mad King, I think they are going to be more cautious with him in charge. Then you start to add up what he's doing to unemployment by slashing government jobs indiscriminately, taking away safety nets for people, etc, etc, I don't see how anyone can think this isn't going to cause a recession

Cant countries not just come together with China and stop all imports to the USA until the madness stops, instead of trying to retaliate with further tariffs, no imports and the US would come crawling back within 3 days to negotiate.
I tell you, Canada just needs to switch off Pornhub for them for a weekend. Job done.
