How is he 4th choice number 10? Doucs won’t be here next season, this guy will. He’s young with room to improve, it’s a no brainer to sign him.
You cannot say Doucs won't be here and Alcaraz will. Neither are under contract for next season as it stands.

He's currently 4th choice given Moyes picks Doucoure over him and would likely pick Ndiaye and Mcneil over him. That makes him 4th. It is not a no brainer to sign him or else the club would already be doing it ASAP.

I think if he starts one more game we're obligated to buy him. Think it'll be sub appearances until the end of the season and make a decision on him then.

You mention the run of games coming up , obviously they are agst the better teams in the league .
We have very little of the ball unless it's in transition yet you still see the reasoning in playing Doucoure when every man & his dog see's the move break down as soon as he gets possession ( same with Harrison btw ). He should be nowhere near the team let alone in the starting lineup.

If its Alcaraz plays that position we will look far better in possession as the lad is not wasteful with the ball and actually has a football brain.
You say it's not Alcaraz v Doucoure , well it very much is atm . Moyes favours N'diaye out wide and favours Harrison over better players out wide on the other side.

This just smacks of Moyes shoehorning Doucoure ( and Harrison ) into the side just because he likes them , when almost everyone else wants to see actual footballers with brains and creativity allowing us to be on the front foot far more often.

…yep, Doucoure is awful in possession but he certainly helps us defensively and maybe best supports the inclusion of Ndiaye on the left. I guess for Moyes it’s still a matter of not getting beaten and staying in the game.

Thats the one ;) missing opportunities not to have seen 2/3 yesterday.

Then he should be sacked and left to die on the hill of HarrisonBrojaDoucoure.

Thjs may make sense if there was statistically a favourable amount of passes and tackles/duels won.

Its the reverse Cahill.

Would Cahill have been effective at left or right wing? How about as a deep midfielder?

"Oh, but yesterday he didnt run around alot and didnt get the ball out on first the left and then the right wing".

Imagine saying the same if Cahill was the player?

The fault is with Moyes, solely.

When Alcaraz has been used centrally hes looked like an emerging Ndiaye level player.

No logic to leaving Alcaraz on the bench and its even more stupid to replace the player who could link with him...with him.

On the wing -- Moyes madness.

….maybe watch the game and not rely totally on your computer game database. Whilst stats are an important factual element, they really aren’t everything.

I don’t even think Alcaraz has been poor defensively in the games he’s started. Sooner or later, we’re going to have to move on from Doucoure, who isn't even a natural 10.

Maybe so mate...What's interesting is why would Moyes insist on playing a 32 year old, who's out of contract in summer, instead of getting Charley in the team, settled and fully acclimatised for next season?
He wants results and Doucoure off the ball covers alot of cracks in the team. Hopefully in the games coming up we see more changes to assess them for next season.

Not sure he is fourth choice when Doucs was out against Palace, Charly was in there. Since Ndiaye is first choice left and Doucoure first choice ten, I would say Charly is second choice ten. Maybe Moyes just wants to be more convinced until he presses the button. Personally I already see enough potential but maybe Moyes wants to keep him hungry and wants more work off the ball. Maybe if he performs and wins that start he stays, if not he doesn't, man management has always been a Moyes strength.

…I totally agree, Alcaraz certainly doesn’t shirk hard work but Doucoure is a hybrid in that he’s a midfielder who tries to get into attacking areas. There’s maybe less of that responsibility when Ndiaye plays.

As somebody posted earlier, the balance of the squad is poor so Doucoure’s inclusion best addresses that. The target has to be improving the areas Moyes spoke about yesterday, maybe then we can have our conventional no10 and move on.

Going into another season shoehorning Doucoure into the 10 would be a big mistake, I hope Moyes addresses said issues, Being linked with players like Soucek is worrying-he’s another unconventional option who really shouldn’t be used in that position.

….i know I’m in a minority of one here but I can honestly see where Moyes is coming from. Doucoure’s inclusion maybe helps Ndiaye get in more threatening advanced positions.

It’s all about what the team does with the ball and without the ball. Essentially, Ndiaye isn’t an orthodox winger, when we have possession he’ll often pop up centrally or be close to Beto but when the opposition has the ball he has to do his bit defending wide areas. What I noticed yesterday was how often Doucoure was in our LB area when we didn’t have possession (not sure I seen him near O’Brien).

Maybe Doucoure covering the left side is exactly what Moyes wanted him to do.

Are we saying Moyes - ex pro player and manager of over 700 pro football games - knows more than Timmy and Dave on a football forum?
