6 + 2 Point Deductions

I keep messing up the season being challenged - what season was it and what were the direct results between us and Burnley?
its the season where dyche was burnley manager and he beat us 3-2 and said everton dont know how to win

we then had the miracle of goodison where we came back from 2-0 down to beat palace 3-2 and we also had the miracle of goodison where we had 10 men and a man tied to a goal post where we beat newcastle in the 99th minute.

So the 21/22 season where we took 3 points off them and vice versa. They can’t point out where we would have dropped points elsewhere, as that’s not possible - the most tangible they may have been able to raise would possibly be the direct results between both clubs. If we had drawn the GP fixture they would have ended up on 36, and we would have ended up on 38. Baffles me why they think they can be successful here.

But it’s impossible to deduct points for a breach of that season within that same season. Unless you submit your accounts the minute the final whistle goes on the last day of the season and it’s all audited and resolved within like 2 weeks. (Which would just look like a farce anyway after the season has concluded).

So a punishment will always come the season after at the earliest.

They signed up to those rules just like we did. We got our punishment, and we actually got it when they were back in the PL. It’s on them for being absolute garbage that even after a team has 8 points deducted that they still finished 16 points behind them.

Yeah I think it's a load of poo myself mate. Will be interesting to see what comes of it. Is their contention that we should have been hit harder in 23/24? Does us signing McNeil and Tarkowski after they went down have anything to do with it? I don't know why it would, as McNeil was purchased for a fair fee imo and Tarkowski was a free agent... I'm just trying to grasp at anything I can.

Personally think it goes nowhere.

As a gesture of goodwill we will allow them the opportunity to experience playing at a decent stadium next season (they have to get promoted to take up that opportunity though). They can also have Keane for free if they so wish.

2021/22
We won 3-1 at home and lost 3-2 away.
The results between us aren't relevant to the case imo.
Well results generally are, aren’t they otherwise we would have no sporting advantage (which we all know we didn’t because we were useless) but that sporting advantage will generally be the crux of their argument, which is we cheated our way through results to safety - if that’s not the basis of their argument then I don’t know what is, I was simply saying even if they reduced the argument simplistically to the results between the two teams, we came out even Steven

I agree it’s too narrow to just argue over two results, so what do you think the basis of their argument is?

I'm not sure tbh but I'd guess West Ham probably felt there was no case to answer against Sheffield United as well.
