He is only about 27 .
I have always stuck up for him but his rumoured wage demands and his injury record means it's a no from me.
His goalscoring record doesn't justify the outlay even without the injury side of things.
It's one of those times when I think it's better for the club and player to go there own ways.
When he is fit and on form he is very good but it's not often enough for me.
Personally, I think he's physically done, not up to week in week out 100% Premier League action - a slower league beckons in Giroud-esque post Chelsea manner...if he's lucky.

This could well be the case but this is the first time he’s had an extended lay off in a year and a half or something.
Seems a bit suss the way he doesn’t have any timeframe for return as well.

I'd withdraw the new contract offer.

I've had enough of his apparently ridiculous wage demands , inability to stay fit and finish chances.
I'd be surprised if our contract offer is still on the table. Genuinely baffling that he turned his nose up to another big contract with us, especially with his injury record and the long spells without goals when he was fit. I certainly can't see clubs queuing up to offer big wages to this lad now. Even on a free, the last thing anyone wants is a high wage player sat in the injury room.

He was bad in his 10 minutes off the bench but looked a handful, to those willing to see it, in the cup matches he started.

People can accept that for Beto but won't allow anyone to criticize Dom for being horrific for four years.

Fact is people went overboard on Beto being useless simply to avoid having the conversation about whether Dom was becoming an issue. Now that Beto has started and scored some the conversation has swung around.
The thing is both players looked much better when Moyes took over.

DCL only had a game and a bit under Moyes but he looked well better against Spurs than he had for years.

Probably as much to do with who was the manager at the time than anything else.

Looks like a mess from all parties though.

This is true. Dyche tactics are a hard sell for any striker.

That said, Moyes has come in for a fresh start, and look what happens game 2. Out for weeks again. Its bad timing for everyone involved, but its especially bad for DCL. Had he started banging in the goals (ala Beto), then his wage demands would maybe have held some merit, but now its very much gone the other way.

He was out injured for a long time, how bad he is now - nobody has said just how he's doing.
I think Dyche eventually got him back to 90%.
Let's see if he ever kicks a Premier League ball again between now and the end of May
Let's see if he stays or goes
And, if and when, how he does

Don't know figures but rumours of £150.000 whatever the truth must have been hefty as Newcastle said thanks but no thanks as soon as they were put on the table.
He might not get the 150k per week at Newcastle in salary alone, but between the wages and the signing fee he will get as free agent, he will be close to that figure.

I read different things. Newcastle couldn’t sell Wilson and we were asking too much. That proposed Minteh deal seemed to complicate things further. These things can usually be sorted if all parties are wanting the move.

Interested to know the real story

Just a couple of pointers , Newcastle never came in for DCL, nothing ever in it , not wages or anything else. He has not asked for a move , yes he hasn’t signed a new deal . The truth was he couldn’t play under Dyche and the long ball . He may well go at the end of the season , if he does good luck to him . Nobody apart from him his agent and EFC will know what his demands are to stay , so let’s not guess
