“we believe we have an extraordinary squad that can be the foundation for future success”

Eh ?
Between this comment and the comments that Bobble (I think) reported that Moyes thinks we only need 3/4 players to be challenging for Europe, I'm a little worried about what the plans are for the summer. What's the smallest squad every registered in the Premier League?

Can't see the benefit of Thelwell staying on. Not for the club anyway. The job is never approached in the same way when you're marking time.

Will reserve judgement on Kinnear.

I'm open to the re-positioning of the DoF role. Few clubs have really nailed the right scope for it and relationship with the manager.

I do have concerns about how we'll buy for the future rather than just the first team but let's see how things go in practice and over time.

This is my concern. I assume it just won't happen much. Look at the money clubs, most of them stay the right side of PSR by selling players they bought into their academies and that nobody, apart from FM nerds, have heard of for giant fees.

Why? What's on Kinnear's CV that impresses you? I'm not being chippy, I genuinely want to know what people see in this appointment. Getting rid of Kenyon is fine, he's an expert in failure. Everything else is all so uninspiring.
It's Kenyon thing i like....The Kinnear one I've stated previously he looks like a untrustworthy back stabbing middle manager.

He's the new CEO now so we've got to give him a chance.

Can't be any worse than Baxendale.

  • "I look forward to taking on this new role focusing on our new home and, just as importantly, the regeneration of the area around it.”
I found that bit interesting.

As well as the move away from a single DOF model.
To what, though? That's my worry. Are they giving Moyes absolute power in that area? I'm pretty sure that's what he wants, as that's pretty much what he had here before. I personally think that's a terrible idea. Hopefully that's not the plan, but the remarks in that press release were exceptionally vague on that area.

Short term suddenly dictating long term was my worry when we hired him.

None of us will have a clue at this stage - but I suspect they'll have recruitment across multiple clubs who make the final call.

Are we buying more disused docks and buildings perhaps??

Alex Ferguson/wenger/clough etc all signed duds…NO ONE has a 100% record when it comes to transfers. Moyes however got lot more right than he did wrong.
If you look at his entire transfer history I'd say it is not quite as impressive.

From most expensive:
Fellaini, Yakubu, Johnson, Bilyaletdinov, Beattie, van der Meyde, Mirallas, Baines, Kroldrup, Heitinga, Jelavic, Lescott, Distin, Yobo, Jagielka, Pienaar, Wright, Neville, Davies, Oviedo, Howard, Stones, Arteta, Cahill, Valente, Baardsen, McFadden, Gosling, M. Gueye, Kilbane, Silva, Martyn, Bent, Jutkiewicz, Gibson, Ruddy, Vellios, Kennedy, Turner, Coleman.

Those were signings that he paid money for. Loads of duds in his frees and loan players. Half of his ten most expensive signings were duds.

I could list the freebies as well: Li Tie, Bosnar, Plessis, Stubbs, Wessels, Jacobsen, Saha, Peterlin, Mucha, Beckford, Hahnemann, Junior, Naismith, Nash, Neill, Hitzlsperger.

Loans: Donovan, Said, Ferrari, Fernandes, Castillo, Rodrigo, Weifeng Li, McBride, Jeffers, Westerveld, Jo, Senderos, Drenthe, Straqualursi.

Plus of course Pienaar, Arteta, Howard and Yobo were initially loans.

So he did find good players on loan.

(Based on Transfermarkt.)

I always figured TFG bought the club because of the opportunity around the stadium more than anything else.
You only have to walk down towards Bramley Moore once, take up the surroundings and you can see the massive potential for that area. TFG got the money and the means to realise all that. Really excited for to see how it will all develop over the next few years. Hopefully this club will also be able/allowed to maximise that potential.

Maybe wait till summer transfer window closes before sounding the alarm just yet.

Moyes isn’t going to say we need 12 players alerting other clubs to increase cost of players as we look ‘desperate’

No ruin brittle confidence by going your all getting replaced!

Doucoure contract or lack of it hints we will get in players
