“we believe we have an extraordinary squad that can be the foundation for future success”

Eh ?

Consider that Thelwell may well be happy to move on after what he’s been through. If you worked for a company that was as dysfunctional and stressful as Mosh’s Everton, you might want to go even if someone came in and planned to fix it all. He certainly hasn’t hurt his career prospects here.
Absolutely, his reputation in the game will I'm sure have been greatly enhanced by his time here. There will always be clubs who need someone to do the kind of job he did here, he'll not struggle for work.

Take it with a pinch of salt for what it is, a polite goodbye acknowledging that KT in a terrible organisation, being asked to make a lot more money than he could spend, somehow managed to do some deals and retain some players that have (just about) enabled us to survive as a Premier League team. Also, note the importance of the word "foundation" e.g. Branthwaite, Iroegbunam, Ndiaye etc...

TFG have made all the key decisions needed, when they needed to be made - changed the Manager, are changing the structure of the club from the very top, refinanced the debt etc... They are not foolish enough to ignore the most important thing of all, that underpins their own chances of success - getting the best 11 players they can on the pitch and a strong squad around them to be able to challenge.

Our current squad is undefeated in 7 games and thats with 2 or 3 of its better players missing through injury, if thats not a foundation for future success I dont know what is.
Apart from Branthwaite and Pickford we have an average side and certainly not a side that’s good enough if it wants to be successful .

Calling it exceptional is more than a tad silly .

Some of you actually expected our chairman to release a statement to the club website saying “our players are all toilet and we are getting rid of the lot”. Honestly, I actually worry about some people on here. It’s diplomatic nonsense that means nothing. Summer will bring a lot of changes, including to the team.

You know what it means.

The implicit meaning is that there wont be much need for spending.

Neither of you know what the word foundation means.

And whether they like or not, TFG are gonna have to dig very deep this Summer.
