….and stays on. I thought he was struggling with a quad today, I said ‘get off the pitch and protect it’ but he played on. What a contrast to the likes of Onana asking to be withdrawn at half-time, I can’t talk too highly of this young footballer, in all my years of watching he’s very special.
Guessing about medical diagnosis from behind a TV no doubt is backed by a tremendous of empirical data.

Good lord what utter nonsense.

The best bit of business we could possibility do this summer is to get him signed on a long term deal. It would give us a chance to start building around him and O'Brien, if it goes well he may decide that his long term future lies here. If not, he will still only be 24-25 and he would, undoubtedly have his pick of just about any club at that stage of his career, it would also give us the chance to get a truly massive fee for him.

I have to say I haven;t been that impressed with Branthers over the last few games.

I reckon he's struggling to finds feet under Moyes (Tarkowski too) as he's giving them less protection in CM in front of them.

Also, I've said in the recent past that his defensive headers need to improve. They're aimless and dont relieve pressure they just recycle the danger.

Very good player but maybe not at the stage where he's an automatic pick up for a CL club. We may just hold on to him this summer in that case.

Agree...he is not as strong defensively as he used to be under dyche but that was always expected as we are now playing more expensive football leaving the defense a bit more expose than normal. What annoys me a bit with him are those lack of concentration moments that he has from time to time. Yesterday, he was on the floor looking for a free kick on united second goal. Well he has to learn we will not get those decisions against the top boys and so has to play to the whistle. He is very young still for a cb and he is a fantastic footballer...the rest will come by playing regular football.

Dave are you really missing that Boring, defensive shell of an Everton team that Dyche managed ? Please don't say yes for my sanity...

we our playing the first team cms at present

so to say they have no protection is bollox

JB and tarks have been great

so again your chatting utter poo

I think the new owners strategy was outlined when they took over.
"Buy cheap, develop and sell for a profit" (don't quote me).
Someone like Madrid come in with a bid over £70m, we are looking for a new player for the production line.
I think it's something that we are going to have to get used to unless we get in amongst the teams winning trophies.
Freidkins don't give a toss or know about when we used to sit at the top table.
They'll do enough to ensure we stay in the Premier league to keep the TV money and bonuses coming in.
Selling your best players every summer is not a strategy that will make you successful,
So I hope that’s not their long term vision
To be fair I think at Roma the first 3 seasons they kept all their best players, With the previous owners selling the majority of them
Salah, Alison and a few others

Yep. Laying down on the pitch believing a ref will blow a whistle when United are moving up the pitch was naive. We maybe get it with a Palace or Leicester.

I also wonder if hels struggling to adapt to another CB being in the back 4...when Tarkowski comes across to the right O'Brien tucks in centrally and Branthwaite has to effectively partner up with another CB he has little experience of.

All in the learning process for him.

What do you want him to do head the ball 50 yards to the half way line every time.
It obvious you’ve never headed a ball in your life

His positioning when he heads the ball sometimes is falling back and so he does little more than head it in the air with little forward direction. That''s something he needs to learn: be on his toes and ready to take half a step back to get some purchase on his headers.

There's no need to be defensive about Branthwaite. No ones saying he isn't a very good CB already.

Well, we are beginning to concede a few more goals again. That could be tightened up, couldn't it?
If it's the best defensive record in the prem you are after then i concede Dyche came close to achieving that....no doubt about it👍.
However that is not the whole picture is it?
It was at the sacrifice of scoring ourselves and being able to pressure teams deep in their half.
Our water tight defence under Dyche had us in the relegation zone for the whole of the season until moyes came along.
A record breaking defence does not win games sadly.

That’s not reality, when teams are attacking CB will
Have to retreat and they end up in their own box marking a man or space and if the ball is slightly behind them, then they ain’t going to get purchase on the ball, sometimes it just get it out the danger zone and the rest of the team deal with the 2nd ball.

It’s like corners, Branthwaite won a few good headers at corners yesterday but the ball will every time find a Utd player outside the box for them to get it back in, that happens in every game.

Yep. It's called " clearing the Immediate danger"
