I said years ago that Sandhills would be a major issue with this stadium because it’s a buffer station. Kirkdale is bigger and that struggles with the footfall from Goodison at times, anyone saying they’re similar is obtuse beyond belief.
It was good to hear that the buses worked. That’s a positive because I didn’t suspect they would. Again, will be interesting to see how they cope when there is more than 10k people there.
I think the council/folks need to look at it from beyond the matchday experience. This ground will be hosting concerts and all sorts. Are folks going to want to walk back to town after standing for hours at a concert? Absolutely not

They have enough trains on the network, wouldn't it just make sense to have them running to and from Moorfields every 5 mins, with 8 carriages?
Don't fully know how trains work, but they just need more of them at ridiculous frequency on match days.

I don’t know how trains work but I know enough to say that they get in each others way if they run backwards and forwards to Sandhills while also offering the usual Southport/ Ormskirk to Town trains.
Add onto that, the fact that the dock road in the Winter is possibly one of the coldest and windiest places in the whole city and ten times worse when it`s raining.
It`s not a particularly pleasant walk at the best of times.

They've went from having 2 platforms and 3 services (Kirkby, Ormskirk, Liverpool/Hunts Cross), with nearby Bank Hall supplying Southport... to having one platform.
The limited parking, and the 1 platform is going to be chaotic. That was 10,000 yesterday.... add 42,000 in and it'll be pandemonium and there will be an accident.
Merseyrail probably need to at very minimum, put a cover over the queues. Was freezing last night, can't imagine the fuss there will be if its cold, wet and the trains are every half hour.
Realistically they need to be scheduling trains after hours and on Sundays to run every 15 mins for an hour after the game

I think that’s the only way it could work but it will still mean plenty of queues outside, they have done nothing for the platforms which means overcrowding on there and the trains will be full to the rafters which is what it is.
But don’t forget also, that’s the northern line in to the city, it isn’t just football fans using it. Saturday afternoons are busy as it is.
They just haven’t done enough to address the problem in other areas, they’ve had years to look at it and sadly it seems come up with a pen outside Sandhills station.
What I will say is the whole area will see regeneration over the years to come and things will develop and change, but for the first year or two this could be messy.

It's not ideal. But for the likes of myself from Wirral, it's easy enough to walk up to Scotland Rd to and from the game and straight on a bus through the tunnel.
Hopefully more will just bail the idea of standing around at Sandhills and seek alternative transport. But obviously some need a train to get home.
And on 'Actual' match days there will be thousands who just want to stick around and have a pint or whatever. Think the cold winter mid week night games will be an issue.

The whole point of a test event is to iron out the minor issues. This isn't a minor issue, the transport infrastructure is something everyone has been warning the council about for years and it's going to blow up in their face.
