Sandhills station

Thought it was all a bit of a mess transport wise. The traffic going to the game was carnage, given the time not surprising, but when you consider it was a 10k capacity. The soccer bus took about 40 mins to get there from town.
Coming back from town, where the traffic meets Leeds Street and the Strand, will be interesting on a Saturday at 5pm. From there to Liverpool One can be...

I can only say incredibly positive things about my experience of the stadium yesterday, however my long-standing concerns about transports are highlighted.

I can only echo you here. The stadium itself is magnificent, blew me away.

But, yeah, transport.

….i suppose the point being that once you’re in town you can link to anywhere.
This is true but you have one road that leads that way and one road to Bootle. That’s it. Everyone is going one way.

Compare to goodison, you have county road and city road down to the town or Walton vale and onwards. Queens drive to Allerton, West Derby etc and down to Bootle. Walton Hall Road down to the East Lancs, Kirby, Croxteth.

You could have additional specials going from near Sandhills up to the County Road and beyond.

We have essentially 50% less space for fans to span out because of the river, with less train stations, bus routes and arterial roads... all with more fans.

Whoever has made that penn outside Sandhills needs to be held accountable. This has been talked about for 5 years and they have put some railings up.

A disgrace.

The only way to of improved it was to of build another station close to the ground. They have had so much time to do it and surely wouldn’t have cost that much on the grand old scheme. They could have even ran it by Everton and created the station with some investment from them.

No buses near the ground, no trams, no parking. How long has this been going on!?

I went everything about the stadium is incredible, but Sandhills is a disaster waiting to happen.

Queuing outside in the weather is a joke, platforms woefully inadequate, rail guards trying to coral what will be thousands of people and then add in boozed up people. I think the thought is let’s see how it goes and iterate from there.

It was enough for me to think about other ways of getting there until it’s addressed because when it’s 5 times the footfall and everyone leaving at once it’s going to be chaos.
