2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

A lot of people would have been happy to see Beto sold in Jan and a replacement brought in. Looks completely different now. Beto talking about how he’s being shown videos now and working on his game makes Dyche’s management look appalling. Calvert Lewin would 100% be scoring more in this team.
Think he’ll be a smart signing for someone in the summer.

I don’t think DCL’s heart is in the club tbh. Whenever he played he gave the impression of cba…I don’t know when it went wrong for him or who was responsible but it now seems a lost cause…..

Maybe at times this season. Was a mistake by all parties not sorting this in the summer but it’s becoming more evident why he wouldn’t want to have signed a new contract then. Looks too far gone now.
A shame cos he’s one of the few players I like. Find it harder to take to players as I’ve got older for whatever reason. They just come and go.

Beto should have been starting games before DCL’s injury
Looks like when he did get a run, he knew he had 70mins to prove something to Dyche, ran round with no composure, went off before the end in a scripted swap with Dom, to then get the last 10 mins the following 4 weeks.

Benefitting massively from knowing he has maybe two months of starts. Maybe Dyche was right, he now has the “freedom to miss”, because it won’t lose him his place and end his PL career. He’s managing to maintain the ridiculous effort, the general chaos, but when the chance arrives show amazing calmness.

Tbf playing up front in a Dyche team is like selling air con units in Antarctica.

You can see why anyone would get fed up and want to leave.

I also think the style of play just wasn't helpful to any striker, but especially Beto.

I think DCL deserves to have some grace and time playing under Moyes before we write him off totally. Yeah Dyche liked and played him but we can see that the team then didn’t play to the strengths of any of the players. I have no doubt some time under Moyes and he’ll look better than he has done.
I agree completely. Very few players do everything perfectly. They all have strengths and weaknesses. They have preferences. It’s up to the manager to scheme for that to be successful. We’re doing that with Beto now. A healthy Dom might see us planning for more set pieces to him for headers, whereas the opposite is true for Beto and needing pass throughs and link ups. Dyche’s system was rigid and stale. It was one way all the time - hoof it up to an isolated striker and hope for the best, give it up, and run back on defence.

I've said for months he should be moved on so surely the last few weeks have confirmed this now? He hasn't been missed at all compared to previous seasons.

It will be good for the club and more importantly good for him to get a fresh start. I see it similar as for Iwobi who never looked a good fit here even when he was in o.k form but now key part of Fulham side who have chance of Europe.

He'll end up somewhere like there or West Ham.

Pretty sure iwobi was only sold to help PSR and we wanted to keep him. Just like the manager wants to keep DCL unlike all the wetwipes
