Six to eight. Need two full backs, a centre back, maybe two depending on Branthwaite, another midfielder maybe two depending on Alcaraz. Need a right winger with pace! Maybe a left winger too. And a striker.

6-8, £100m-£150m, but it needs to be on the higher side of both of those ranges.

Just want to take a moment to enjoy the fact that between Doucoure, DCL, Keane, Holgate, Maupay, Harrison, Lindstrom, Broja and Coleman, we’re saving £665k p/w. It goes north of £700k p/w when you factor in Mangala who we likely won’t touch now he’s had a bad injury. Maybe 3 of the above have contributed in any meaningful way this season. Two at a push will be hard to replace.

Insane wages largely on dross. I don’t think there’s many blues who think we could do much worse with recruitment and wages than that.

Jordan Pickford
Begovic extended
New Backup Gk

New LB
New RB
Nathan Patterson. Sold
James Tarkowski
Jake O'Brien
Vitalii Mykolenko
Jarrad Branthwaite
New backup CB capable of covering full back.

James Garner
Tim Iroegbunam
Dwight McNeil
Iliman NDiaye
Harrison Armstrong
Ghana - extended
Alcaraz - Signed
Lindstrom. Loaned again
New Rw

Broja - Loaned/signed reduced terms.
Beto - Sold
Chermiti
New CF

I voted 3-5 as in new players which based on the above means I can’t count.

I can see Patterson being sold. Seems to be injured just when he has a chance prove he is good enough or not.

It worries me that when we move into BM we may lose home advantage edge until we settle in and that coupled by a raft of new signings could be difficult.

Don’t think we can sort out all the problems in one window so if we can extend for 12 months or loan we still retain some control and don’t end up with unwanted players.

This reminds me of FM
Myko is terrible. A fullback unable to cross a ball.

Really hard to guess. No idea what finances will look like, or what PSR allows us to do even if we have the means.

I hope that, between the change of ownership and years of being very frugal, we've shaken off the reputation of being suckers for paying large, inflated fees for average-at-best players.

I'll be setting my expectations low, as I have done every window in recent years. Would love to have a reason to get excited, though.

Think... 6 - 8 players plus who ever we sell on (Beto), other to the out of contract players, 100m - 150m plus whoever we sell

Think we will strike a deal for Broja - Mangala - Lindstrom - Charly (approximately 70 - 80 million as will re-negotiate the original deals) thought Mangala was looking better and better before the injury, Moyes and Big Nose both have stiffys for Broja, Lindstrom and Charly will make a good impression in the second half of the season, and both have good sell on

Will keep Gana - Doucoure one more season on reduced

Four to six loan spots will be used with future deals in place, working in with how Moyes works best

I think it'll be 6 to 8 but only two or three will be actual money signings and the rest will be a combo of cheaper deals for guys with upside, true young projects and loans. People will lose their mind and it won't actually be anywhere near as important as who is coaching the team on July 1st.

Yeah the wage factor has been killing us further past 4-5 years now.

We simply don't have the incoming revenue to be able to carry such high wages especially on players who aren't featuring much.

Efficiency has to be the key to recruitment going forwards. Both in terms of resell value, wages offered, and the ability to balance those two so that players who don't work out well still have the ability to shift them on.

Watch contracts go out now to Doucoure at a 'reduced' £85k and Keane at £55k per week. We couldn't even give these players away, so if the club is talking about moving on and improving, which it is, these players simply cannot be employed past the summer at The Everton Footballing Institution of Excellence (EFIoE).

Was chatting yesterday about this.

The outlay needed this summer to genuinely get us looking like a team that could have a goal of saying the low hanging European spots would be insane.

Probs my looking at needing 200m plus smart use of loans or free transfers and needing the majority to work out on top of that.

Hypothetical scenario - we sign Alcaraz and Lindstrom permanently - that's already 35m gone. Throw in Delap and Mcatee and that's more than likely another 80m gone. And for that much you have 4 risks still, was Alcaraz just a blip in firm to get a move, can Lindstrom kick on, would Mcatee be able to fulfill the potential as a starter and is Delap as good as he looks or just having a good first season.

So that's a 120m outlay, still would need another centre mid, at least one winger, fullbacks, CB depth, likely a third striker and keeper depth.

Clear that we won't be able to do everything required in one season even with a investment as high as that (which I doubt we will spend anyways).

Big big task for the recruitment people and interesting to see if they do go for several higher costs buys and try to cover the other areas with more bargain pickups and loans or if we go a bit lower and try to get a lot of lower price buys hoping the majority work out...

Personally I'd rather we spent what we have on say 4-5 players for the now and future and use loans and cheaper shorter term deals to cover the less important areas.

I’ve gone what we’re likely to do rather than what I think we need. 3-5 in and 30-70m. Would rather 6-8 and that will be at least 70-100m. We won’t have a huge amount unless we get a huge stadium naming rights deal. More hopeful over the potential signings this summer than I have been been for a long time.

"How mpyes works best"? Do you mean his odd transfer jem 15/20 yrs ago? Or his other transfer duds with us and his time at other clubs (where transfer genuis he was not)?
