Don’t rate him I’m afraid .
Always thought he was average at Burnley .
Occasional flashes of brilliance surrounded by dirge.
He will always be an ‘almost ‘ player, I think.
Never quite living up to the potential he displayed as a young player.
Which is why he ended up at Burnley really .
Seems a nice enough bloke though and I wish him the best of luck ,

Too slow and two one footed to be anything more than bog average.

With those limitations you have to be truly almost world class with your control, skill and other foot, he very much is not remotely close to that.

Sheedy could as he arguably had the best left foot I've ever seen in terms of passing range/finishing.

Thought his pressing was awful on Sat. Always a few paces away from where he should have been. Him and Beto always behind the men and never close to getting to them.

Biggest myth ever is Doucoure is good at pressing. Check how often he's ending up at the side/behind the player and gives away stupid fouls as he's chosen the wrong angle or wrong option.

Zero natural instincts just pure athleticism which has been on the slide for a year now

…I think he gets in the way more than particularly pressing or winning possession. I noticed at Brighton his ‘stats’ were poor but there were a number of times he was on the edge of our box just getting in their way. Teammates will appreciate him and equally find him frustrating.

We’ve had to have a no10 who almost plays two positions (neither of which he’s particularly good at) but he becomes another body behind the ball and has significantly helped our cause over the years. I’m sure his effectiveness is on the wane but Managers struggle to leave him out of the team for a reason. Hopefully Moyes can get us in a position where we’re not reliant on him.

He’s been a terrific servant for us.

Football is a game of opinions I see nothing but a carthorse.

I don't think he dies that due to being positionally aware though mate, I think he just wanders after play a lot and is unsure where he is and ends up in a ok position by fluke.- no other part of his game suggests any difference to that.

Great servant - hmmm, I'd say he's been a very clear symptom of how low acceptability of beyond mediocre whilst being vastly overpaid for has becone at our club.

This is it, hes just awkward to try and get around when you are in possession hes a giant of a man, its his big physical presence.

…absolutely, he’d be a nuisance to play against and for a long time he’s been one of the few players we have with any powers of recovery. He’s never going to be pleasing on the eye but there’s a reason why a series of managers have picked him.

Getting back to Alcaraz, it’ll be interesting where Moyes elects to play him. Presume the options are the Mangala or no10 position.

Remember being beaten by Watford at home and Doucoure was one of a big midfield that just bullied us with power and presence, it was just so awkward to get around them or through them, think Watford won by 2 or 3, we some times dont notice that attributes someone brings off the bal to the team or not on the play. I always found with Doucoure we really missed him when he was injured and not in the team. All that said i do feel father time has caught up with him and hes lost half a yard in the last year.

As for Charley, its either the the Garner spot or hybrid 10. For all he did good on Sat, i was watching him off the ball and he was a bit lazy at times, so i doubt he will come in for Garner - it will be for the Duke in my opinion. His game seems centred around energy and engine, so moving up and down between the lines. He was in acres of space on times Saturday arriving late, though we didn't seem savvy to it - hopefully thats a process of getting used to him.

If you’re referring to the 5-2 game then that was 2021 and Doucoure played for us. If you’re not referring to that game then I’m struggling because they had never beaten us at Goodison in the Premier League era before that.

There was a point when Garner drove forward with the ball out from midfield and laid it off to Doucoure near the edge of their box, carried his run for a 1-2 but Doucoure played it back 30 yards to Gueye. You could see Garner's frustration straight away, the move was killed instantly and we were playing around the back again.

We need a connection in the 10 for the midfielders, wide players and striker to link up, love to see Alcaraz given a go. Doucoure can always come on later in the game and be a bulldozing nuisance.
