2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Dyche’s bounce was that of a dead cat. We won 3 games in his first 14, we’ve already equalled the number of wins in Moyes’ first 4. It’s not remotely similar, and they aren’t remotely similar as managers.

Think this is an example of when people won't give him an inch of credit.

We sat 19th with lowest ever points at that stage and looked terminal. It was the only time I genuinely believed we'd go down - this was us prior to Dyche coming in;

He come in, and his priority was sorting the defence - which he did, which kept us up;

⚽ Everton's Premier League season

Sean Dyche - 2 wins from 3 games

Frank Lampard - 3 wins from 20 games

👏 What a job Sean Dyche is doing...

Despite taking charge of just seven games, Sean Dyche has already won as many Premier League games with Everton this season (3) as Frank Lampard did (3/20)

Everton have kept 3 clean sheets in 7 games since Dyche appointed. Prior to that, Everton kept 4 clean sheets in 20 games August-January.

^ There's the impact. People can do the same now Moyes vs Dyche.

Moyes inherited a team that was drawing too many, and is also having an impact - 4 league games in. New managers eh?

Let's see how he does for the rest of the season. How would he do if we had no net spend this summer?

I'll be surprised if we finish above 15th+ - we'd need a mad run of games like we did last April to finish any higher.

With all due respect to Moyes, we have had a good run. A good bounce. We have definately played better football. But this side is still capable of returning to form.

Think of the bounce when Lampard and Dyche came in.

Moyes is managing a the same squad but we are most definately and different club. The level of optimism is high.

We can say well done Dyche thanks and good bye.
Great work so far Moyes keep it up!

Indeed. Even Benitez won 4 of his first 5.

Maybe the answer is just sacking managers every 5 games

Reading that just reminded me how bad those Fulham and Newcastle home games were

And equally how unexpected and out of nowhere that Brighton result was

I mean you, like some others, are conflating thinking Dyche was doing an awful job this season (3 wins in 19 is terrible) with not giving him credit for what he did previously.

He did a good job to keep us up when he came in. He got a decent points total last season and saw us through a tough time with points deductions. Thank you for that.

But you are still allowed to admit he was abysmal this season. The football was dire, trying to scrape draws to get safe regardless of the opposition.

Moyes has come in with the same players, and we actually look like a football team again. Even the defensive stats have improved despite us being more expansive.

Yeah people will put it down to a manager bounce, and say Lampard had a bounce (won 1), Dyche had a bounce (won 2). But at this point, Moyes needs 1 more win in 15 games to better Dyches win record this season. It would be a fairly safe bet to put on him doing so. He will inevitably have a poor run of games, (April looks awful) but he is levels above Dyche as a manager as he has proven in his career.

Think of the bounce Lampard had 😂. (He won 1).

Moyes needs 1 more win in 15 attempts to better dyches record this season. With the same players (arguably actually currently has a worse squad due to additional injuries).

Apparently thinking Dyche was crap this season means we aren’t giving credit to Dyche for what he did in previous seasons 😂

It is gonna be beyond toxic on here when Moyes next loses a game. It was after the Villa game and that was after about 4 days in the job.

I wonder how long a new manager bounce lasts? If he wins say another 5 before the end of the season, is that still just a new manager bounce? Does it run into next season?

At what point is he allowed credit for getting us winning some games and it not being just because he is a “new manager” and actually because of his actual management?

Dyche’s problem this season was that those initial collapses ruined any attacking thoughts for the team.

I think in technical term is that he went ‘full dyche’…and as Robert Downey Jr pointed out in the acclaimed ‘Tropic Thunder’ - ‘you should never go full…dyche’

Correct. He was the right hire when he came in. He did his job keeping us up twice.

He also was circling the drain and and no idea this season. As such, it was time to go. Can you acknowledge that now?
I'm not sure I can, tbh. I say that because we were only feated 3 time spin his lat 14 games.

Let's put it this way: he was performing at the level - toward his last few months here- that a relegation threatened club would normally be ok with.

I'm glad dyche's gone. His methods were the managerial result of abhorrent club ownership and leadership.

And the scary thing is, we needed him. He did his job and I'm grateful.

But football teams retire continual evolution and competition for places. He struggled naturally because when Ashley Young is your best season's signing you've got a problem.

And his impact of energy, physicality and concentration kinda caved in because of the lack of forward intent/ quality which dyche's not really capable of anyway.

But he was good for us and is part of a healthy start in BMD, not an unhealthy one, which is where BK, Mosh were headed.

Thank you Sean.
