You are absolutely correct, but I'd caveat that with his poor injury record and the fact that this is the first manager we've had worth a toss out of those four. Maybe he still ends up surplus to requirements (in fact I think that's still more likely than not), but I don't think ability is his issue in all honesty, I think it's concentration, fitness and tactical understanding - they're all things that can be developed. Will Moyes get a tune out of him? Unlikely, but I'd say he has his best chance now than he's had in some time. I don't read too much into O'Brien getting a game ahead of him - Leyton Baines couldn't get in the team when he first came here as Moyes insisted on playing Lescott at left back ahead of him
Don't think Patterson is the biggest issue we face. If Moyes can get a tune out of him, so much the better.

There are other problems that need to be addressed across the squad as a whole first

I suspect we’ll be thrifty in January. KWP low cost deal and maybe two loans in attacking positions.

But…

If TFG & Moyes wanted to make a statement I’d love to see them go all out for Cunha. 1) Solves the Doucoure position in one go for the next five years, 2) Already proven scoring rate of one in two for a struggling PL side, 3) increases survival hopes by effectively relegating a rival (shades of Newcastle signing Wood from Burnley in the January after their takeover).

They’d need to sell Beto to add another £10m to the existing £10m budget this month, as Cunha would easily be £40-50m. But what a lift it would give the club!

All he needs to do is ask Richarlison (strike partners in Brazil’s Olympic gold medal winning team) and it’s a done deal.

Cunha was thrown under the bus by that crackpot Perriera last night, so I’d say there’s 0.0001% chance of him signing that extension now

Unfortunately if we cant convince nuamah/lyon, there is absolutely no chance we would be able to convince cherki. Yes he is a top top player, and cherki and ndiaye on the same team would make us very competitive going forward.
If they don't want to be here, best to move on anyway.

Mad. I was just thinking the same. I wonder if we could throw a bid if for Cunha. I wonder what he would go for.

I want us to approach good players. Personally I would try and bin off both Harrison and Broja. And I would approach United for Rashford and Brighton for Ferguson.
