Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Good news is that’s not how it works mate.

With 10 mill you can sign two 25 mill players this window on five year deals!

We won’t like! 😂

I'm chuckling btw, because you could in fact sign more mate, the period you'd be charged on each PSR rise wouldn't be 20% but 10% of their cost roughly, then four years of full PSR costs and the final half year of the contract would apply to the 6th season the player was there, reality is most contracts whenever they are signed run till June/July, so would be amortised as 1/9th on a four year deal for a January signing the first half season.

So in the above figures you'd pay 2.8m each player or 5.6m for the current years PSR.

Why would we need a fire sale in June if we’re able to spend up to £10m now?
We spend now and then go down/finish a place or two lower than budgeted for and we’re right back on the line again.

Any further borrowing costs/unexpected OpEx and we are over the line. It’s not that we don’t have cash flow to spend £10m it’s purely PSR. We would need a sale before the end of June which puts us over a barrel in terms of fee (Branthwaite being the one).

A sale isn’t a fire sale is it  if we’re “on the line” then selling one of the squad players for £5m could see us fine? Anyway we shouldn’t bother wasting our time trying to satisfy these nonsense rules and meeting arbitrary deadlines anymore because nobody else is doing it.

It is if nobody wants to buy your expensive player. We’d have to shift a few to meet the regs instead of just branthwaite for example. None of this is anything we want to entertain, rightly so. But it’s also just nonsense rules you’re right, don’t agree that nobody else is doing it though. Why haven’t Newcastle bought half a team when they were within touching distance of top 3?

Nobody other than city are spending and they’ve got loads of PSR room.

Nice one mate! ;)

Equally, it becomes less expensive next year as our turnover increases in PSR terms,

It's ten million worth of PSR room which is nothing to with down payments mate whatsoever.

Whatever the final fee is divided over the contract length and then applied against that season's PSR.

So a 50m player signed on a five year deal would classify as 10m if signed during the summer.

If you signed the same lad in January for 50m then his value would be split among 4 1/2 years with the half season cost applying so 5.5m
Thank you for clarifying.

I’m more ashamed that this thread has turned into the sort of number filth that bluffing Etihad hooplicker Stefan Borson would be knocking one out to than I am for some of the absolutely awful transfer shouts.
A whole lot of tosh about 10mil "wiggle room " published from a bloke that wouldn't know what the club had to play with.

Can we sign some players pls Moyst.

Yup just got to be careful as anything we spend now will get applied on a full season cost next season. So sticking 10m on this will whack 20m onto nexts

Don’t know if you’ve been keeping track, but the ammortisation bill beyond June 2025 is very low.

More so if say someone like Beto goes. Who probably with McNeill would be our highest cost player, wages/ammortisation.

Be interesting to see our amortisation no come the 1st of Sep…with a turnover prob touching 240/50 mill be interesting to see what no we end up on and arguably what’s healthy and sustainable.
