Would be a show of intent and the right thing to do to protect their investment.
The gaps in the squad are obvious so no reason why we shouldn't have something lined up. Maybe some kind of trading with Roma.

He'll know where all the skeletons are buried. Have a good network of contacts across the other clubs and English football administration in general.
I think as long as he is a conduit to change rather than a barrier some continuity could be helpful. Reputationally he seems to have come out of the last 2 yrs pretty well.
