If we’d had our stadium for as long as Spurs with a £22 million deal, we’d be £110 million up on them by now.

Turning your nose up to a decent deal is dumb.

Spurs would now need a deal of £44 million per season if they want to match the ten year sponsorship numbers of £22 million per season.

I thought that as the shirt sponsorship ends at the end of this season, we would be having a combined shirt and stadium sponsor deal. Like City and Arsenal have. Arsenal's is £50m per season. Because they are regularly in the champions league, I expected ours to be lower, like £40m, then have bonuses if we are in Europe and bonuses for the stadium being involved in the Euro's, etc.

The club might be looking at it a different way though, if we sign a stadium sponsorship tomorrow of £22m per season we can use the money straight away, and start calling it "The Toyota Stadium" or whatever it is. Whereas the current sponsorship contract with Stake may not allow us to announce next seasons shirt sponsor, whilst this season is happening. So we therefore split the new sponsorship deal into 2 parts; £22m per year for the stadium and £18m per year for the shirts, which will be announced later.

Yeah, and I'm saying the alternative is holding out for a better deal, like Spurs, who have already lost 5 years of massive sponsorship because they were greedy for more.

I figure we had £200m+ boxed off with USM until Russia invaded.

We then had to scrounge that amount from 777 et al.

As someone who regularly falls back on Fortnums hampers when I've not spent enough time thinking about a present... I'm not sure which is cheaper: one of their hampers, or a £22 million sponsorship deal...

Yeah, a 22m sponsorship deal would be big to go along with our other deals. I get the feeling many people have not looked at what actual stadium sponsorships have been in the country. Combined with the other increased sponsorships, and stadium revenue this might put us right with Newcastle as the 7th highest revenue in the league. With the new rules allowing player spend of 85% of revenue it gives us a nice advantage over all the others.
