2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I think we have the 13th best squad in the league. Obviously by saying that wouldn’t be shocked if we were 12th or 14th.

If you genuinely think our squad is higher quality than that then fair enough I just don’t see it. I could see an argument for 12th behind the top ten I listed and Fulham but then I look at Palace and see Guehi, Munoz Chalobah Wharton, Eze Franca Nketiah and think they’ve got more strength in depth in positions and more overall quality than we do.
Franca is proper undies, overhyped agent signing

Nketiah will be at Middlesbrough in 3 years, he has come with the Arsenal tax

And the Bournemouth one still stings.

When you go through the matches and see what points you could possibly get, Bournemouth (h) & Leicester (a) is a great opportunity for at least 4 points
You could have done all of that last season as well, but when viewing the games over a whole season, not many would've said we'd have been safe with games to go having experienced two pts deductions. It's a long season, and this team goes through periods of high confidence and low confidence. When we're able to invest in the squad, that will become less frequent.

Results compared to last season

Brighton 1 point Brighton 0 points
Spurs 0 points Spurs 0 points
B'mouth 3 points B'mouth 0 points
Villa 0 points Villa 0 points
Luton 1 point Leicester 1 point
Palace 1 point Palace 3 points
N'castle 3 points N'castle 1 point

4 points down already from last season with a fairly easy start to the season, that Palace win has took the heat off massively.

Games such as Fulham, Wolves & Leicester at home are the opportunity to make up for lost points that we didn't get last season (luckily for Dyche we lost plenty of 'easier' games last season too, to help us with this)

It’s going to be a long season for you if you’re doing this week to week, there’s a reason the season is 38 games.

We're on exactly the same number of points as last season at the same stage and on paper we had a much easier start last season on paper - Fulham, Villa, Wolves, Sheff Utd, Luton, Brentford.

Well thats ok then, all we need is a 10 point deduction to get our season going and its all well.

You are using a bad start to last season (worst start after 7 games since 94/95) as a positive for a bad start to this season?

If you were in a car accident because you were going 100mph but did not die, would you continue to drive 100mph or would you tone it down a bit?

It may have been a ‘harder’ start but we have still failed to beat a newly promoted team and Bournemouth. 2 of the sides we need to be beating.

Comparing starts doesn’t really work other than to say both years have been appalling.

On the contrary, im rebuking your assertion that we are four points worse off then last season (not true) and comparing the context. As we know results aren't linear, thus is competitive sport.

Its an interesting point on the 8 point deduction - do we build an 8 point flexibility/tolerance into your equation.

The trick overall is not to deploy the airbags unnecessarily before the cars pulled out of the driveway. ;)

In fairness we're equally as crap as last year - 1 draw better, PROGRESS LADS, 150 year contract SOON!

Hilarious how @Neiler absolutely missed the analogy and instead moved the goalposts, which in a way is just sticking to his own posting trend in this thread I guess.
