Computer games.

Good man, that card will serve you much better...especially if you're going down the BF3 route. I keep looking at SSD's every day but I just can't justify the price per GB and their questionable reliability.

Will upgrade to 580 I think later on...

Is it true that to much Graphics card power when compared to the power of the processor can be counter productive?

I mean obviously it could be, but would you say my Processor has the ability to run with a higher end Graphics card.

Yeah, it's best to strike a balance...mainly because you're throwing money away otherwise. Your proc would be able to hang with any card out now. Main thing to keep in mind is what resolution you play at and how high you want to crank the effects. I play on a 55' screen but it's only at 1080p whereas there are 30' monitors out there running crazy resolutions. That's a big reason why I get by fine still on my 460...plus I find a lot of effects overkill so I turn them off. Depends on your preferences and what you're playing on as to where you wanna' go with it all. Which version of the 560 did you go with?

For the most part, graphics cards denote 'how much game' you can run. It is only recently that games are relying on the CPU more (BF3 and Skyrim are two examples that love a beefy CPU), but for the most part, my old dual core E8400 paired with my GTX 560 Ti could run just about anything.

With the advent of Skyrim, it was clear the CPU was holding my system back. So I opted for a 2500k, which is probably the best chip in the world on the price to performance ratio. It isn't quite as good as your CPU, but I am good for a long time now.

As for your question, your CPU will be just dandy, even with a tri/quad SLI setup (triple GTX 580's or dual GTX 590's in case you are wondering, but only if you have daft money to burn, they I can't find a 590 for sale anywhere....)

Oh Nords, just so you are aware, the i7-3820 just displaced the i7-2600k as Maximum PC's recommendation for best mid-range CPU.

I challenge anyone to a game of international karate + !

as soon as i can get the commodore 64 out of the loft and wait two weeks for the tape to load IT'S ON!

thinking about moving away from the PS3 and coming to play on this , mostly BF3 , how do you think it will cope.

Just to add for some reason my Graphics card has shown as Intel HD when infact it has a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 525m (quad core)

Bit of a noob as you can probably tell.

PS I may be back soon to ask for help synking my PS3 pad with this laptop

Been waiting years for D3, it's going to be brilliant.

Anyone see the announcement of an enhanced version of Baldurs Gate and Baldurs Gate 2? 2 of the best RPG's ever, CANT WAIT.

It'll be more of the same, same gameplay better graphics you'd hope but more of the same..blizzard dont do complete revamps of games just evolution

It is your CPU that is a quad core, not your graphics card. We don't even have more than single core top of the range desktop cards (the best thing they do is put two GPU's on a card, still not as good as a single chip).

Here is the link to my gaming laptop, which is over 2 years old. The only weak part of your setup is that graphics card...a GT 525M is an absolute dog of a card (sorry bud, just a fact) as you can see my 2 year old GTX 260M pisses all over your graphics score. So basically, all that RAM and CPU speed you have is useless in games, as how well you run them is GPU dependent.

The only thing missing from that being a decent gaming laptop is the graphics.....
