Olympics women's boxing: Italian abandons fight with Imane Khelif, who failed gender test

In one of the most shaming episodes in Olympic history, Italy’s Angela Carini was forced after only 46 seconds to abandon a fight against an Algerian boxer who had failed two sex tests, claiming she had been hit so hard by Imane Khelif that she feared for her life.

Surprised this story hasn’t gotten a bit more coverage, I know there are 2 transgender fighters that have been cleared to fight despite previously being banned. Interesting to see the reception they get if they win gold.

Frankly, it’s absurd and dangerous to have a biological male participating against women in a sport like boxing.

It does seem like an extreme example of where the transgender competing as the opposite sex they were given at birth, doesn't work.

It's ridiculous that the everyone is equal bigrade have campaigned for and forced this to happen. At very least it's unfair at worst dangerous enough that an actual woman could be killed.

Stupid this.. look at the muscles you don't see that in women's boxing, certainly not the amature competitors at the olympics. This type of madness needs to stop.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but the starts in the swimming are a breath of fresh air! Take your marks (or whatever) and the beep goes a split second later to start the race. Athletics could learn from this rather than have a long delay between 'set' and the start gun...

And loads and loads of athletes before her, there was no testing until a few years ago.

Seems very confusing situation, International Boxing Association banned her but according to Olympics board all is fine. Is she even trans or like Caster Semenya situation?
