Moyes In/Out

Anyone seen "24 Hour Party People"? The moment when Martin Hannett draws on his cig, states in a matter of fact way that everyone around him is a compelte bellwhiff and don't deserve him, and they won't see him again before strolling out of the Hacienda?

Well that's how I am starting to feel when I look at the poll stats. I'm beginning to question my fellow blues. I never, EVER thought I'd see the day when our manager does that to us in a derby and still people maintain that he's the best we can get.

Bleach isn't strong enough.

See I dont agree with that. We didnt have to rest anybody. The games are well spaced out and its not like we have had Europe or an extended league cup run to deal with.

Liverpools home record this season is terrible by the way. Or was anyway until we rolled over for them.

Well I think you could argue that Jelavic would struggle with 3 games as he's not played much and is coming back from injury. It would have been a waste to not play Pienaar as he can't play against Spurs or Sunderland, so Moyes probably thought he could provide the direct creativity instead of Drenthe (and I would say he was Everton's best player). Hibbert for Neville isn't a down turn either. I would say Jagielka is not a bad replacement for Heitinga. And most people seem to want Cahill out of the team. So I think some of the decisions were understandable.

I absolutely agree about Liverpool's home record. Although from what I've seen of them, they've played much better than that record suggests. They've just lacked a decent striker to finish their chances. This was shown again last night with the hat-trick coming from midfield. There were spells in the game were had had plenty of possession in their half but looked pretty poor in our decision making. Drenthe & Jelavic from the start would have made a difference there.

I guess, front 2 aside, I don't think it was as weak a team as is being suggested. They should have done better than they did.

We are in the top 20 highest paying clubs in Europe for managers. People underestimate who we could attract I reckon.

I think we could attract a decent name. But the problem will remain the same. No investment. Even if you believe Moyes isn't getting as much out of the team as he should we are still in a downward spiral because of the lack of funds. At the end of this season we already face losing Pienaar, Stracq & Drenthe. Signing them will cost money we already don't have, let alone bringing in anyone new. So we'll need someone canny enough in the transfer market who can also motivate these players and play a more attacking game. Even with 70,000 per week it will be a difficult decision to get right. And I don't know about any one else, but I don't have great faith in our clubs decision making.

If we lose on Saturday he can do one. Last night was pretty much the final straw for me. His credit is nearly reached and beached with me.

But for now... Cheese on toast, lad.

Only trouble is, most of the alternatives make me shudder.
My sentiments exactly mate.

I read this and assumed you was talking about moyes, i thought you had changed your tune. until i read on.

Really? I can understand people saying Moyes has grown stale and has lost some of his spark, but does transforming the club from relegation candidates to multiple top 6 finishes, regular european football and a cup final count for nothing? He has been a tremendous manager for us in his time. However you think of him now, I don't know how anybody can say he's not proven himself a good manager.

I dont like Moyes much - and if we ever had £20 million a season to spend i would sack him instantly - but at the moment he is best for us. He should however be given a warning after that match yesterday.

I for one am looking forward to Moyes to go to Spurs and bringing in Mark Hughes. Wait a min not I'm not because I'd like to consider myself a rational human being.

Oh I agree with pretty much all of that. Thing is right now we need a manager who can manage without much money. If Moyes can do that great but im sick of his early season strop ons and his not having any real faith in his team. We have good players at the club (down to him of course) we should never be going into a game fearing the worst.

Agreed. I can't argue with anyone who finds Moyes to be too negative or cautious. It's plain to see. I just wish he'd get a chance to manage us with a nice transfer kitty.

Moyes in , only just .

The big change for me is that before this season I would have been genuinely gutted had he left for another club , I dont think that is longer the case .

Yeh it was the right decision to rest players.

God forbid they have to play a midweek game aswell as at the weekend. How on earth can professional athletes do that?

Compare them to professional athletes. The guys who go to the World Championships, Olympics etc. Usain Bolt etc. They run their events several times in the space of a few days. Sprinters often have multiple races in a day, epsecially guys like Bolt who compete in 4/5 events. Distance runners will do 3/4 5/10k races in a week or less. And to win they need to be the fastest, pretty much at their absolute peak. Can our players not handle 3 games in 8 days??

It isn't as simple at that though is it? All premiership players are at the peak of fitness. Playing at 95% makes a difference at this level. Sunderland have no midweek game so their fitness levels will be higher come Saturday. The difference between 100% and 95% could be the game.
A win in the cup doesnt justify resting players and pretty much throwing the game. If Everton win next game its not only because players were rested. The game last night was huge for Everton. You could actually have overtaken them in the league, that would have lifted the fans and the players. That would put even more pressure on Liverpool and there would have been a good feel factor coming into the cup game. You cant lose to your local rivals and say you are not disappointed. Can you imagine if this was a foreign manager who said that? Everyone would be on his back and say he doesnt get it

How is it that an Arsenal fan gets it better than Moyes and half of our fans?? Seriously?

Moyes dropped the ball IMO. Even ignoring who our opponents were, we would have gone 7th place with a win and made European qualification through league position a distinct possibility...

This...

But nevertheless, Moyes IN.

But not this...

Moyes has really pissed me off though, not only thanks to yesterdays team and performance, but the fact he didnt even regret the selection - never even apologised to the fans. He only said that it was bad defending ffs

He got it badly wrong last night, probably because he is desperate to win the cup.

But as has been posted millions of times before he saved the cluba nd turned it round - who else would come in with no cash to spend?

If DM goes you can bet Baines, Jags, Fellaini and other will want out too.
