Re Kane and Bellingham they were clearly not fully fit. My criticism of Southgate there would be that he played them so much in the first place. Especially Kane.

I dunno tbh. Palmer looked in fantastic form yet was relatively underused. Watkins also had a tremendous season yet was largely untried for England, largely because of the modern cult of the individual that means the likes of Kane play every game to pad their stats against minnows, when previously reserve players would get a run out.

We were comparing how England played in 86 and 90 with the present day team. I said the current squad is better in comparison. You chose to include a player that while in the squad barely played in 86 and didn't play in 90 so its not really a valid inclusion. We may well have played a lot better if Robson was actually available.

This thing about Kane being injured is mad, why's he played most of the tournament? If he genuinely was he shouldn't have made himself available for selection. I don't think being the captain is a good enough reason if you're not contributing, far as I could see he was as useless at captaining this time as he was at scoring.
