6 + 2 Point Deductions

Those accounts are awful. Just sums up the pathetic management of the club off the field

I still strongly disagree with any further points deductions though. We are making money on transfers, so clearly not getting an advantage on the field. I just totally reject any argument of a sporting advantage - it's the complete opposite when you are losing this much money before even considering transfers. A financial situation like this means you can't compete on the pitch - that should be our punishment and it's deserved but points deductions are not deserved.

I think I`d halt any panic attack some guys on here are having....

These accounts aren`t what we were hoping to see BUT they are the second lowest in the last 5 years...

YE2019 -£111,8m
YE2020 -£139.8m
YE2021 -£120.9m
YE2022 -£44.7m
YE2023 -£89m
Well I for one have just done a 180.

Champers and lobster for tea for me. I'm living Everton frugal now.

They will I`m sure but it will be filled with assumptions and guesses maybe based on last years numbers...

Last year's statutory loss was 45m and in the appeal report that went down as a 10m loss for PSR. So 35m of deductibles. However I think those accounts had c.8m of Covid deducted and this year's don't. So we had 35m deductibles then but possibly only 25m now. But yes this is an ESTIMATE but a reasonable one. I'm hoping there are more deductibles than that but we don't know.

Statutory loss 89m
Deductibles c. 25m
PSR loss c. 65m

PSR wiggle room (from appeal verdict) 40m

Breach c. 25m
I don't get the point. We've got no idea what this year's deductibles will be.

Remember, these accounts were effectively locked in before we found out about the 10 point deduction. Too late to do anything about it.

BUT! the club went into that first charge initially claiming we complied. Then when submitting these accounts we see today to the PL in December we were moaning that they were non-final as the appeal was ongoing so disputes over some accounting/mitigations. Total BS because they are substantially worse, so if these are as bad as they look, we were always breaching the 2nd time anyway. Regardless of the appeal outcome.

Thats where you get your cooperation discount on points deductions. Being open that it’s going to be a struggle for a few years. Not imply that everything is trending the right way.

I’ve been expecting four points but would anyone honestly be surprised if we got 6 points deduction?

The problem is we had an advantage last season and stayed up due to overspending on players. We stayed up by breaching PSR at the expense of other clubs

It's the context of the £89m loss that is the important thing.

We cut wage costs, we made 47m on transfers, and still lost Eighty Nine Million Pounds. And there is no pandemic argument anymore either.

This is a financial mess. This is not sustainable and I don't see any solution unless someone decides to just pump hundreds of millions into the club out of their own good will.
