6 + 2 Point Deductions

And I'll say it again, the points deduction was not fun but...

We are where we are in the table because of Sean Dyche...

A gift of an opening set of matches to start the season -

Wolves (H)
Villa (A)
Fulham (H)
Luton Town (H)
Brentford (A)
Arsenal (H)
Sheffield (A)

4 points from that? COME ON! Dyche does not motivate or galvanize anyone!

Obviously we need new owners but GOSH DARN we need a new manager...
I think you have forgotten that we avoided relegation on the last day last season and the 2nd last day the season before...we are not a good Team... I think it's amazing we are in 15th despite a 6 point deduction..

It’s been a very solid turnaround for a team who were so close to relegation. If we didn’t have the deduction or potential 2nd charge, we’d be very close to safety.

Not really a surprise

Doesn’t really make any sense though. He says our P&L is improving, yet thinks we need to sell.

We were only 20m over for the 1st breach. I personally think we will be around 10m over for the 2nd breach (based on we argued we were only 8m over prior to the hearing which was after the end of the financial year so will/should have budgeted for that 10m rather than 20m).

Which would then leave us with 45m as a buffer for this year.

Didn't they change the accounting period from end of season to end of year? If so then that should rule out any club needing to sell by the old 30th June cut off.
I think it was the the dates they had to submit them by. So any club that was forecasting a loss had to submit the accounts ending 30th June by the 31st December.

If no one had any money to spend in January I don't see why anyone would have money to spend before July

Prem money comes in the summer.

If we can shift Onana, Branthwaite or Maupey before June 30, it will look better for the next season but we still will have some funds but very very limited due to Beto and Chermiti repayments starting.

Wages is another issue. We have Holgate, Keane and Maupey who aren't in the plans but we will lose Gomes, Gueye, Dele and a few other bit part players.

I expect a few more free transfers to save on fees but we have more movement on wages.

We we’re 20m over the 105m losses after they already allowed us to right other things off. Maybe we can’t right some things off this time because there’s no Covid.

Yeah, I could see that being the case. It’s just his assertion that our P&L is improving yet he still think we need to sell. We were 20m over, if it’s improving since then, 2 years on you would think we don’t need to sell. Certainly not a major sale.

I think Ben will just have looked at the declared years, based on everything we know the 22/23 accounts will be much worse than the year before.
