Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, a frosty start here today, and it doesn’t bode well for our trip to Goodison tonight, but nevertheless Mr P in spite of the weather and his dodgy knee is intent on going. I can’t lose interest in the team no matter what is going on off the pitch, and as much as they often infuriate me I want to show them that they are supported. I’m sick of hearing they earn shed loads of money etc etc, at the end of the day they have been turning out some decent performances recently and I don’t see how they can fail to be affected by what’s going on, so hat off to them. COYBs 💙
Good luck today for Mr F @anjelikaferrett. I hope you get your boiler sorted @jazzy. Why do they call Buckie the Jags @blueloon?
@Val P its very much a Scottish thing . Jags are commonly used instead of “ jab” or injection eg a flu jag . So Jag is associated with anything prickly like a thistle . It’s not only Buckie Thistle, next most famous , 😉, is Partick Thistle who are also referred to as “ the Jags” . Inverness Caledonian Thistle tend to be called “ Calley “ , sometimes Calley Jags . Speyside Thistle , also in the Highland League , get referred to as the Jags too.

I've just remembered a funny little story from the holiday.

Day 3 we were in Curacao an island of the Dutch Antllies.

We had been to the beach in the morning and in the afternoon had a stroll around the town ( Williamsburg I think it's called - @Barnfred 55 will correct me ) . It's was frighteningly hot and we just want to sit in the shade to have a beer.

As we turned the corner we can upon a small square, almost completely in shade with a little bar. Perfect.

So we sat and had a lovely local beer and I decided to have another .

The owners daughter ( about 14 ) who had served us came over and I asked for another beer . As she turned around I said " Oh I forgot, do you have any crisps , you know chips ?"

Quick as a flash she gave us both a beautiful smile and "Well.....we did but I ate them all !"

We were laughing and she " But it's ok the shop around the corner sell them if you want some".

Maybe not that funny on reflection but very cute and a great place for a beer.

Hi everybody. Mr F thought his interview went well. He should find out in a few days. They did mention a possible second interview. It's for 15 hours a week! If he gets it he's looking to take his pension and we'll see what happens.
Fingers crossed for Mr F and you , sounds like a great life style change opportunity 🤞

Thanks for that explanation- I understand now. I was afraid to ask because the last time I asked a Scottish person a question it went a bit like this
Me: so which of your parents is Spanish Juan?
Scottish guy: my parents aren’t Spanish
Me: so why did they call you Juan?
Scottish guy: they didn’t- my mates call me Juan cos my surname is Kerr
Could have died of embarrassment tbh 😂

Good morning all on this snowy day here in Finland, they have forecast snow all day ! I hope all are well and had a good night's kip. It would be nice to hear from @peteblue to let us know they are fine after the last few weeks . Off to the shops no matter how much snow there is ,I am a hoarder of food -just in case they don't have it when we need it -I have filled cupboards and freezers until they are bursting but we need fresh milk and vegies so we need to go out ,we are on course for a heavy winter's snow already we have had over a metre .
Luckily I couldn't get the match last night and had to listen to the Everton commentary whilst googling ,it was a bad match quality wise but a fine goal .I did get to watch the highlights this morning all three and a half minutes .I am sure @Val P will tell us more .Have a great day all COYB

Morning all. A cheery start here despite the snow, Buckie Thistle featuring on BBC Breakfast before this Sunday’s big Scottish Cup match away to Celtic. Tickets and bus sorted for me and youngest son , who,e town is decorated in Green and White hoops , should be quite a day!

I saw that yesterday- a brilliant feature. I never knew the Stephen King link 😀

Not much to tell really @blue1948, the players looked exhausted, the atmosphere was non existent, I think everyone is just battle weary at the moment. A moment of brilliance from Gomes was the real highlight, and seeing Virginia do so well in goal - calm and composed. Definitely a few off days for some - Harrison and DCL in particular- I’m sure others will disagree. It’s great that we are through but it’s at the expense of the full winter break which would probably have been more beneficial. Still, bring on Luton 💙
