Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all and to @Eggs new grandaughter .I hope all had a good night and have a great day today .Not much happening here other than more snow all morning and then clearing it this afternoon .My job to make a ragu sauce for the bolo tonight ,loads of garlic and garlic /herb butter .Oh I love a good pasta .
I am looking for another family car as this qashqai is manual and we so miss the auto box from the Juke .It is hard getting a 4wd auto with enough power for the little boy in me in our price range ,I have now settled on a Mazda cx5 but it is diesel and carries a premium on the fuel along woth a tax of 650€ per annum for being unfriendly to the atmosphere !
There are lots of problems with hybrid cars here as it is so cold so they are off the wish list .I looked at a BMW 225xe only to see the range for electric was 20km on a good day more like 12 in the cold -that wont even get us to the shops never mind both ways .COYB

The idea of hybrid and electric cars is very honourable but these sort of issues are massively off putting aren’t they.

I forgot to mention our lovely @anjelikaferrett 's birthday please forgive me .Happy Birthday to you ,21 again ?
I also didn't mention we watched that "Mr Bates vs the post office " as regulars will know I laugh out loud at the UK justice system , this time it must be the post office who are wholly to blame .I was so upset watching that series at the way they covered each others rear ends , a CBE for a clergywoman who lied through her teeth ,it beggars belief .The system is bent from top to bottom , when the compensation is sorted guess who foots the bill ? Yes the good old British taxpayer .I said to the wife if they made a film of this you wouldn't believe it possible.

Very cold here today and I have already set my fire to be lit around tea time. There is something very calming and welcoming about seeing a fire ready to go in the hearth.

A work day to successfully negotiate then I can properly relax in front of that fire with a beer. Talk about self motivation ;)
My Dad, a fireman on the railway would, when setting the fire, “bank” up the coals as he did at work. Although we had a lovely blaze going in the hearth there was a risk of the chimney catching fire, so sometimes we had to find wet rags to damp the fire down filling the room with steam and smoke. Dad was undeterred, didn’t put him off and he continued even after we, on one occasion, had to have the fire brigade. Mum put a stop to it eventually- she bought a gas fire. lol

I never have a fully blazing fire due to that fear myself. Always just contained around the centre with more of a glow than flame mostly. Turf is great for that- plenty of heat but no sparks.

It was a difficult watch but one that I enjoyed at the same time. I feel so sorry for those people who just didn’t have the will or the strength to fight the system. Easier said than done I know.

Faced with pleading guilty or prison, let’s just say I wouldn’t have needed a stamp for where I would have stuck their summons.
