Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

G’day all . For the past five or six years I ve taken on the organisation of a traditional run around the town on New Year’s Day , known as “;The Sair Heidie Run” . Say it with a Scottish accent and it becomes clearer . It’s very informal , we usually get about 40 ish runners , a few in kilts , Batman costumes etc , dish out some prizes and raffle prizes afterwards , with all money going to Salvation Army’s Food Larder this time . So today has been just checking I’ve got everything, particularly as we provide “ a piece and a cuppa “ afterwards. A wee bit to do tonight, then I’ll be all set for tomorrow.

That's class. Great thing to do.

As you all might guess us living in the middle of nowhere means it will certainly be quiet at home but the Finns do like firworks at New Year so we will hear some as there are kids about a mile away across flat land and we surely will see them ,as cat owners and because we love the local wild life we have no wish to set any off near home but the wife has a surprise for me tonight -no Fred ,which should be something to aid the celebrations to go with a bottle of bubbly ,I don't buy champagne as it is a rip off ,it is though a French one .
Have a great night tonight all and see you all on here next year .Thanks once again for the companionship .B.

What have you all got planned for this evening? I'm having a gourmet night of good food and fine beverages. Kicking off with my fave Spingo ale which I'll consume whilst cooking my main meal. I'm having rib eye steak with French fries, onion rings garlic mushrooms and English mustard. I'll be having this with a very fine Argentine Malbec. Then its one or two dirty martini's [gin and dry vermouth in the chiller as we speak) and I'll probably stick one of my DVDs on. Then about 11ish I'll have a cheeseboard. I have some excellent Cornish Blue and cheddar and some local relishes (the hot chillie jam is amazing) which I'll be having with a glass or two of LBV port. Then I'll watch a bit of Jools, see in the new year with some champagne, and continue getting pissed watching some of my fave YouTube music videos.

Hope you all have a good one whatever you're up to. Cheers everyone.

Sounds like a lovely evening. We were going to get a takeaway but daughter and I went to Costco instead and bought lots of goodies from there which we are grazing on as we speak. We also somehow, ( think pressure from daughter who at the age of 26 played the youngest child card) bought a load of fireworks to set off at midnight. I've noticed Rick Astley is on BBC1 so I might watch hime instead of Jools. He's much underrated and has a fabulous voice. I've made a few mojitos and they are going down very nicely.

Cheers Fred, I hope 2024 is a good one for you. x
