2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It’s not irrelevant if your striker cannot finish.

True we scored from the corner but if your main attacker cannot finish , long term, it’s not a good thing and is not a recipe for success.
It was a very good save from the Keeper.

People acting like hes missing 10 chances a game.

It was a good save , but like most of his efforts , it was nowhere near the corner of the goal and that gives the keeper a chance.

He “hits the target” a lot but he usually puts them closer to the keeper.

In the last week/few matches he skied one over from 6 yards vs Newcastle , missed the 1 on 1 against them, didn’t put that header away last night.

That’s 3 guilt edge chances he has squandered and luckily from two of them we scored straight after , doucs got the rebound and we scored from the corner last night .

That doesn’t change the fact he is not clinical in front of goal….

1 guilt edge chance, the Newcastle 1 was the only glaring miss.

Hes not clinical in front of goal, thankfully he offers us vastly more than goals.

Hes involved in the majority of the goals we score, whether in the build up or making runs to open up space, but hey, some people only look at goals scored.

Our first goal against Chelsea was a poor missed 1 on 1 as well. He isn't a natural finisher but he creates chances for the rest of the team. That's ok when we have others who can contribute.

We've scored 15 in the last 8 games. It's absolutely fine if your striker isn't slotting when the rest of the team are.

Like you say, Dom is critical to how we setup - and as long as we're scoring as many as we are, there needn't be any pressure on him to find the net.

Some people just have to find fault with things.

They simply deplore being happy and others being happy.

It doesn't help that he's the sort of player that a certain section of the fanbase despise for personal reasons, either.

Dom's got it in him to start slotting for fun. We've seen it before, there's no reason why we can't see it again.

He'll come good in the goalscoring stakes, it's just a matter of time.

Look how high he jumps, difficult header...and scored cos of him so who cares

You don’t understand Neil

People said he was rubbish and would never make it here 8 years ago and they have to keep feverishly finding excuses to have a go at him, because otherwise they might have to admit they were wrong

He could score 30 goals in a season, win the golden boot, win our player of the season award and score goal of the season, and you’d still get the usual suspects pointing to that one chance he missed as proof as to why he’s not good enough

It’s the internet, idiots gonna idiot, what can you do? 🤷‍♂️
