Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Went over to Burghley as it was a lovely afternoon for a walk. Here’s a couple of pics, me trying to be arty (and failing) in one with sun setting behind the trees, one for you @blue1948 perhaps you can identify the fungi. Glorious sunset when we returned home followed by another great result, been a good day.

The sky tonight, both east and west was fantastic. I took a photo of our tree, facing eastwards with the big tree in the background. I was going to post it earlier but it said it was to big to load…

It’s good to hear you all remembering Karl, and although I didn’t have the privilege of knowing him, as you say @anjelikaferrett , this forum is a legacy to his memory.
The discussion about community has made me think - I’m no sociologist but it must surely be created and defined by the people and customs/values of the people in it. My husband calls me antisocial (I’m not btw), as he is such a friendly, inclusive, helpful, generous and outgoing person that he seems to create that sense of community wherever he is. We have a dark joke that if I snuff it first he’ll be ok as everyone will be round to help and support him (as we clearly saw when he had his life threatening illnesses). Whereas if he goes first I’m stuffed 😂😂. I think some people need others and some are ok without, both situations being fine.
We saw a clear sense of community when we had a house fire a few years ago. All the ladies in the road came rushing out when the firemen arrived - in their best dressing gowns and a bit of make up even though it was about midnight 😂
Wish I could give this post a hundred likes Val. My Cal was the same as your fella. Weird but I never ever thought she'd be the first to go.

Hi folks hope all are well, Karl was a great bloke had some good conversations with him , he certainly left a legacy,

On another note

A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. The manger came out and asks them to disperse. “But why?" they asked. “Because," he said, "I can't stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer."
That's awful Duc😀 You’re been away from Liverpool far too long mate.

It must have been incredibly difficult for you Fred, the only positive is that if had you gone first she would have had to cope and go through all the emotions that you went through. Best that it was you who had to do it and save her that distress……
