Used to drink heavily at times when I was younger, half a bottle of brandy before i went out
then go totally tea total for months or years even.
My dad was a drunken mess half his life, and I just didn't want to be remotely like him.
So if I thought it was getting a grip,
i would stop.
Had a brief time just before my divorce when I was taking a bit of brandy in hot water to get to sleep, by the end of the month it was a full mug, so decided to stop get away from my ex and live a clean life.
Have the odd drink at parties , odd bottles wine and a few when I am on holiday..
Like a decent vodka watching the boxing. But can go weeks without a drink.at all.
Don't drink for the sake of it.
Feel a lot better for it mentally

I try never to drink at home. In a pub these days 2, 3 or 4 pints and I'm good and either get carries away or start to think of hangovers and what I've to do the next day. Not working a regular Monday to Friday makes it more complicated

What I'd say to anyone with a bit of a worry over their inclinations to drink is to really try some of the alcohol free beers from the likes of Peroni and especially Heineken. Really decent and massively improved on a few years ago.

These days with work and looking after the family , it's now a special occasion. I don't drink much at the game , as once upon a time my life was all about me and Everton, oceans of lager and 1000s of mile's on the ordinary.

But when I go out, or can have a drink I enjoy it but the all dayers and nighters are in the past.

Once Upon a time... but I still have a good time.

UTFTs!

Good on you m8 .
As I've got older, I've reset my priorities and the hooch, is now lower down the list.

Hit it hard at a birthday party on Saturday night and ended up having a few pints then a bottle of red yesterday. sweat dripping down my chest today. I need a break from it.
