VAR

Yeah if this had happened to anyone else we'd be as outraged as anyone, and we have to remember this can happen to us any time.

They need specialists in VAR (younger people who are more adept at using technology, not former refs who's skill set is completely different)

The technology itself is poor, the cameras aren't always in the right positions to tell so that isn't helping them - it's rarely a straight line. For example I don't see how they could make a definitive decision on our goal on Saturday, the angle wasn't right. That's why they spent so long checking Tarkowski's jump for a foul, they didn't fancy making the offside call

It needs to go until they sort these things out though. If it requires a game to be replayed then that's fine
This really isnt fine in all honesty. Everything else you say is good but replaying a game for a bad call leads to a dark place.

SCRAP VAR completely, lets go back to the good old fashioned crap decisions and the debate after but never replay games.

If and it wont, the kopites get granted a replay, then I am done with this sport 100%, you can vault this too.

I hate VAR because I can no longer spontaneously vent my joy at seeing us score a goal. There is now that nagging voice saying ”hng on, see if it goes to VAR first”. I hate them for doing that to me. In my long experience decisions (good or bad) tend to balance out more or less over the course of a season. VAR puts a few individuals into A closed room and gives them the power to influence a result. That is a betting syndicates wet dream and I have absolutely no doubt that some if not many Controversial decisions have been engineered for financial gain.

Instead of saying check complete all they have to do is say the outcome, it was not offside, it was offside, penalty or no penalty and the ref can parrot back what he heard to confirm.

If we had open and transparent governance and officiating then the ref's would be miked up and we would see the VAR team on the screens doing their stuff, just like in Rugby. Do that and people might be a bit more patient with getting a decision. However of course that takes away the ability to tamper with the result, so they won't.

rugby is an interesting comparison - do they ever seem to get it wrong in that? I'm wondering if the reason its not on the screen is in case they get it wrong, same as why certain replays aren't shown on the screens like red cards or penalties.

The fans will kick off royally, and I guess that's the big difference between football and rugby so maybe it doesn't matter if they're right or wrong, its down to how the fans behave

There was a high profile instance of them making what was considered to be a wrong call a little while ago iirc, but generally their hit rate is far superior to VARs.

I think a lot of it is to do with the attitude the officials actually take on!

Mike Dean came out the other week saying he backed a wrong decision because the ref in question was his mate and he didnt want to show him up!
If he's your mate, you help him out to make sure he's not under any pressure of getting things wrong!

Someone would of picked up on the error quite quickly but it seems the officials live by a 'close ranks' code when something goes wrong in fear of getting thought of as not doing there job properly!

Its the same as the screen thing! You know the second the ref goes to the screen he is changing his mind! As they dont want to be seen as having a different interpretation!

I don't think the media or managers help with this either though, they get slated and blasted week in week out by everyone (sometimes deserved), so its a them against us mentality

Shouldn't laugh really :dance::dance:
ECHO REPORT
<<Any club that receives six or more cautions or dismissals in a game are fined by the FA, with such a total including the dugout area.

Consequently, the ECHO understands that Liverpool have indeed been issued with a £25,000 fine, having received eight cards in the capital. With such a financial penalty automatic, there is no charge to answer and there will be no statement from the FA. Tottenham won't be fined as they only received five bookings.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if any Reds players will be charged for their comments on social media after the game. Mac Allister was one such player, after he commented 'Normal when you have 12 players' on a post from Tottenham Hotspur defender and fellow Argentina international Christian Romero..>>

I feel liverpool have every right to appeal this....

Why should they be treated the same as everyone else.

They go through the var frame by frame in slo mo and talk their way through it. It sounds and looks infinitely fairer. Which means it won't be done in football, the big 6 will then have the same var as the rest of us. The only reason there is such an outcry is because every once in a blue moon, a big 6 club is given an unfair var decision and then all Hell breaks out, which is why after all this carfuffle is over it will be another blue moon before it happens again against another big 6 club.

At last the voice of reason, Stephen Warnock ( ex liverpool) thinks common sense should have been used. He stated that the ref should have walked to the side of the pitch and blew his whistle. Then he would drop the ball for Spurs to pass thd ball to Liverpool and allow them to score. Can anyone think of a reason why this should not be acted on... ? Oh Steve here's mine could you please back date this ruling of yours so that every other club that has been 'kin shafted by var gets the same deal, thanks in advance. My lord.

Christ, Sky are milking this.

They, and the red media are baying for blood, over an obvious mistake, has any other club, kicked iff as much as these (.....insert your own expletive here.....)

Absolute joke, this league, sky, that lot, etc etc. Essentially killed the sport since they got involved, as a sport for all.

Getting to the point, genuinely thinking of jibbing it off.

Probably won't, its in your blood but for christ sake, let's just have our football back, for us, the fans.
