Indeed. Having a purpose , whatever that may be , is so important.Have a good holidayI've given this post a lot of thought BL. I too watched and was moved by that episode. But at the time I wasn't sure how much of it applied to everyday life given that it was set in an imaginary dystopian world in which both parties had absolutely nobody but themselves to consider. But thinking about it now, I think it was relevant to me personally. For years Cal and I had lived in a sort of bubble and we did everything together. Yes I have family and friends, and if I were to die tomorrow I'm sure they would be saddened and would miss me, at least for a while anyway. But, other than that, in reality my passing would not change any of their lives in the slightest. So I'm very conscious of the fact that, with nobody else to consider, I could easily have slipped into the mindset that life without Cal wasn't worth living. As it happens, I don't think such thoughts even entered my head. For the first couple of weeks I think I was still in shock, but then practical matters kicked in as I had to make all the arrangements for Cal, which were complex to say the least for various reasons. During that time I got to know Karl a lot better and I thought if he could handle everything life has thrown at him, then I'm sure I could do the same. I think you called it purpose when referring to your friend, and perhaps that's what it is. All I know is that I determined that I would try and enjoy my life as much as I can without Cal being in it. And each morning i still wake up with that mindset. Except when I have one of my nightmare hangovers of course.
