Confirmed Signing Ashley Young

He has had an excellent career and has won a lot of trophies.
He will bring leadership and experience to the squad.

He played a lot of games for Villa last season who had an excellent season after Gerrard left.

If he does even close to that for us he will have been a good signing.

Another experienced body into the squad who can cover several positions .
The only issue is age.

He probably played more games than any of our left/right backs last year, and at a higher level.
Age aside, he’s dropped down the table to actually play for us so we can’t say he’s not good enough for here and now.
It’s not as if he is taking the place of any strikers we are after, he’s just filling a gap left by losing numerous defenders.
