So you prefer neville or heitinga in midfield to a proper midfielder. Right so. Thats one i,ll remember.

Never said that...I said either one of them will play when Rodwell or Fellaini or both are injured because they're better defensive midfielders than Gibson.

You wont get a Osman-Gibson, Gibson-Rodwell partnership - not a chance. You'll get Fellaini - Gibson, Heitinga/Neville-Gibson partnership.

Rodwell and Fellaini come back...it'll be Gibson-Bench partnership.

Near the top you said gibsn is not an improvement on neville.
Improving the squad number wise but thats it.

Cahill...yes, because he's a attacking midfielder/support striker
Neville or Heitinga - No, not really as they're better defensive midfielders than Gibson.
Neville and Heitinga together - always a bad call but one or the other will play there when Fellaini and Rodders are injured, and will defo be there when Gibson turns up.

He's a central midfielder. Cant play on the wing. Cant defend. No doubt Moyes will get him playing everywhere.

He's a body. Not an improvement. Not in the slightest.

But you cant expect improvements for £1-2million can you.

I'd be disappointed if Rodwell left, but for me he's the same type of player as Fellaini so if we sold him to pay for a striker and creative midfielder and kept hold of Barkley it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Have neville, heitinga or cahill played in the centre this season?

Your argument is a different one.

Not really.

If Gibson was on loan then I'd not have a problem. He'd be a short term solution to our short term problem of not having 2 or more of Barkley, Osman, Fellaini or Rodwell to call upon.

But signing him on a permanent for a fee that's as high as £2.5m according to some reports (and in the interest of balance as low as £1m according to others) and on real wages, that gives us a long term commitment. One who would not get into our first choice XI. Given our current glaring problems I don't think we should be signing squad players for fees that are about 50% of our rumoured 'warchest'.

Unless of course, as I say, we are selling Rodwell in the near future.

Kenada blue did. Read the thread rfus.

Well seemingly he doesn't actually believe that.

Apologies for the Damon-esque ****ness of that post but....he's not an improvement on them because they are defensive players. Gibson isnt. He's cant do that role.

Its like saying Drenthe is an improvement on Neville as a defensive midfielder....he's clearly not.

Fellaini and Rodwell are improvements on Neville/Heitinga as they play that role. In fact, Heitinga hasnt done much wrong as a DM when played there this season.

The things is Gibson hasnt played an awful amount, hes 24 which for a central midfielder should have his best years to come. Hes got a hell of strike on him and can play a bit too from what Ive seen.

I think for the fee that is being touted this could be a real steal. He isnt the play maker I crave in that central role but I think he can do a job for us from what Ive seen.

Lets not rip the fella before hes even signed or pulled on the Royal blue.
