VAR

VAR, and the rules, are designed to keep the 'big clubs' at the top as they are a guaranteed source of income for the accountants that run the Premier League/football. That's why rules are subjective - was it clear and obvious, was he affecting play whist offside, was his arm in an unnatural position? The answer to all of these (and more) depend on how the decision will affect whichever of the Sky 6 in playing. The rules (and VAR) should be definite/absolute. It hits your hand or arm (anywhere below the shoulder) and it's handball. Don't care if it was accidental or not, it's handball.........and that applies to everyone!
Not sure I buy that….whats the point of introducing off field decision making which seems to show bias/incompetence, when there was on field decision making bias/incompetence in the first place? I just think they are not very good in 1) complying with their own rules and 2) making correct decisions

It looks like it is going to be used differently this year, not as much. But it should have been used twice yesterday, for the disallowed goal and for Tarkowski’s handball in the penalty box.

Why is it most goals can’t be celebrated while VAR does a check, but yesterdays legitimate goal was disallowed faster than you could say ‘check the monitor’?
listening to some of the talk on the way home form the game it was because the ref blew the whistle before the ball went in therefore there was no goal as play had stopped and VAR couldn't look at it. It was a terrible bit of refereeing to not give himself the option to refer to a screen if he made the wrong call. Which he did. Tarks got a little nudge into the keeper too from the defender so the goal should have been given. I'm sure it'll go in our favour one day - ha ha ha ha ha ha (in irony font)

I guess the thing is they typically let play go on but he was especially quick to blow up yesterday.
iirc one of the offsides had the lino waving like a loon too when last season they seemed to let play go one so they can review later. Think it was when Maupey was put through, nothing came of it obviously, but TV replays showed he was on anyway.

yep, some terrible officiating and so bad they precluded themselves from being allowed to use their inbuilt safety net (VAR), there are too many egos and too much hubris in football officiating.
