Bet he thought long and hard about it. Holgate being suspended and probably thought Godfrey had his last chance after being absolutely awful for 3 games.

Thought Nathan Patterson put in a decent performance tonight, such a shame it took Seamus Coleman picking up an injury for him to get a chance.

Both our full backs are being curtailed by our negative tactics, however a few glimpses of what he is capable of, the run in injury time being indicative of what he does for Scotland regularly. Solid if not spectacular this evening, infinitely a better option than Godfrey and Holgate.

Better than Holgate and Godfrey is what most are saying... I think thats an apt assessment

I suspect Patterson might have had more starts had we been comfortably middle table for the past couple of seasons

A lot less pressure on the managers and the player

There's been downtime through injury as well

Nothing wrong with the lad. Stopping faffing about and play him. No worse than some of other tossers, and better than Holgate/Godfrey. Has Seamus’s boots to fill now and am sure Seamus will be right behind him.

I’m not sure I agree, he did some decent defensive work as well. Was it Barnes who was trying to turn him inside out but he stuck to him and got the block in? That stood out for me, thought it was decent.

Think Patterson now playing our remaining games cements Iwobi’s place on the right wing, to help him out defensively. Patterson offers a lot more going forwards.
