A real plunge on Fantastikas in the race, I took 40-1 for it a few days ago & it’s a best price 14-1 now. Crazy. Also, The Wolf @ 40-1 is likely to be tailed off but if he’s anywhere in the vicinity turning for home he can finish like a train.

Such an unpredictable race. Such unpredictable racing.

The Mares Hurdle tomorrow will be a race to savour with such quality.

Facile Vega would have been a big winner for me at 66-1 but 20-1 & 12-1 on Marine is a decent start. As mentioned, a nice double with Good Land to look forward to tomorrow.

Best thing, I have Marine @ 33-1 for next years Champion Hurdle which is good if he stays over hurdles.

….in January of last year was involved in a discussion about ante-post handicap bets with a bloke who seriously charges lots for his tips. It was something along the lines of how difficult it is to identify Festival handicap winners until near the race because you don’t know what weights etc they carry, never mind what race they’ll run in.

He said; ‘if it’s hard this far out, then look back in 2023 at the Boodles. From 14 months out see how far off I am with JAMESTOWN’.

Of all the races, the Boodles is a handicap for 4yo Juveniles. It’s for Juveniles just short of Triumph Hurdle standard. Back in January last year, Jamestown was an unknown 3yo but I put it in my notebook. I discovered early this season Jamestown moved from France to Gordon Elliott in Ireland & renamed Jazzy Matty.

Bottom line is, he performed reasonably this season behind prominent Triumph Hurdle types & amazingly is being backed for the Boodles.

I have no idea if Jazzy Matty runs in 6 weeks but the knowledge of that bloke tipping it up 14 months ago & it even being in the betting for the race is uncanny.

14-1 NRNB & BOG with 365 is worth a little interest. If it doesn’t turn up, you get monies back.

…..despite my misgivings, the monthly ante-post Yankees actually realised another profit thanks to 48-1 & 87-1 doubles.

I’m not planning to post them this year but I might let folk know if any are looking particularly tasty as the next Festival nears.
