The tail risk scenario in that, is 3 teams fall away. When they are 9 teams involved, that is not that unlikely. In reality, Southampton, West Ham, Leeds, Palace and to a degree Bournemouth/Leicester are on form to fall away and collapse. It only needs 3 to continue.

I think it's quite unlikely it remains this tight until the end of the season. Teams start to get cut off. It may only be 1 or 2, so it goes from.3 from 9, to say 2 from 7, or 1 from 5 or whatever.

What I'll say, is it's actually pretty difficult to turn around a poor run of form so late into a season, without the ability to freshen the dressing room up. Even someone like Allardyce, who is the relegation specialist would typically take 6-8 games to get his methods embedded before results turn around. Nobody has that time now.

Completely agre with that mate.

Last season IIRC there was no one cut adrift until there was about 23 games gone, then Norwich went and Watford followed them a few weeks later. What we have this season is a delay, that's all. That delay was caused by S'ton fluking a victory at Chelsea...but now I believe they;lre ready to become adrift for the final time. The next one after them could be Leeds IMO. I think they'll be beaten in the next two against Wolves away and Arsenal away, and they'll be getting left behind..and if they dont capitalise on their following two home games against Forest and Palace then they're defo gone.

At the other end of this cohort of clubs I believe Wolves will get clear soon and then it's going to be effectively one from six to join S'ton and Leeds. We're in that group and we need to get something from the next 3 tough on paper games or we'll be one of the favourites from that six to fill up that final third relegation place.
 

If Palace lose Sunday will Vieria get sacked
If Leicester lose will Rodgers will he be sacked
Southampton have spurs you would fancy spurs to win that
Leeds have wolves away fancy wolves to win that
 
I am feeling a bit more optimistic after the last few games. I am not too worried about the Chelsea game, as long as we perform OK and do not lose badly. As long as we continue with the level of performances since Dyche arrived I think we will be OK. I would even be happy with two points from the next three games as long as we continue to perform OK and our confidence doesn't get knocked. 2 points would probably keep us out of the relegation zone going into our final run of slightly easier games

I am happier but it is perilous. A return of zero from the next 3 is very possible. I think Chelsea and Spurs will offer tougher tests than if we had played them a couple of weeks ago but perhaps the opposite can be said the United. For me we need to win one of the 3 games. I believe under Dyche we have a chance to do that
 

I know it’s been bad for Palace but bold move the team 12th in the league sacking the manager. With a run of easier fixtures coming till the end of the season up after Arsenal.
They have the international break to find the new man. I guess is the one bonus but with so little of the season to go who knows how this could work out. I probably would of stuck with Vieira that squad is good enough to take points and probably would have started taking them when playing the teams around them.

I guess they’re probably looking long term though. He might have kept them up but he’s underperformed for ages so getting someone new in now might set them off well next season.
 
Palace have blinked first and sacked Viera. If they haven't got someone lined up could be very costly for them.
Can't see how reverting to a safety first manager is going to work with that group of players now used to playing an open style of play.
