The problem is today is a game we will have targeted while forest, Bournemouth, and Southampton won’t have been thinking about getting points from theirs.
We’re doomed. Winning is just not enough unfortunately, we’re surrounded by some of the best teams association football has ever seen.

I, for one am gutted. Thanks Sean, but throw your keys in. We cannot possibly compete.

I've come round to Bournemouth winning as a good result for us, we're still at the point of the season where we should be looking up the table rather than down it and it keeps Wolves well within touching distance. The more teams we can catch / pass with a good couple of results then the more insurance we have.

Actually didn’t realise Brentford drew in the end. Palace are another one to try and keep closeZ

Not necessarily. We could finish above three of the 4 currently below us.

Forest are extremely good at home, and that usually gets you to safety. If we finish above one of Leeds and West Ham, I think we have a very good chance of safety.

No one can be ruled out yet, especially not after today's scorelines. So we have a lot more work to do. Today is just one small step towards safety, and needs to be backed up again starting against Villa.

I'm not sure where this perception of having to finish above Leeds comes from. I've seen a few people say finish above them and safe.

They've collected nearly half their points total in August. No win since November. Absolutely toilet they are.

I think they could finish bottom.

We sold our only fit goalscoring option and never replaced him in not 1 but over 2 windows even after knowing for over a year he was going to be sold that’s what I think they meant
Are we talking about Gordon? Well he was crap anyway and we still have the 45 mil to spend hopefully when we dont have to continue to panic buy some dosser in the January window.
Any decent manager has enough in the current squad to stay up and i dont hear Dyce complaining at the moment!

…genuinely surprised me how poor they were today.

Assuming 39pts will do the job I can't find 6 wins looking at the remaining fixtures (but accept probably hyper-negative blue tinted specs may be influencing that). I think draws may become important, 5 wins and 3 draws / 4 wins and 6 draws?
We get 6 wins Southampton would need 7 plus turn around a -8 goal difference. Leeds would
Need 7 wins and have a tougher run
Than us. And Bournemouth also have a really tough run, also need 6 wins and turn around-10 Goal difference.

I know Southampton and Bournemouth got great victories today so it’s hard to look and say they will lose there or draw there.

But but but they played dead well against United last week and had shots??

I still think Southampton and Bournemouth are most likely teams to go down. It doesn't really matter who we finish above, but overtaking Leeds today certainly helps.

No one can be ruled out at this stage though, it's as tight as it has been.

Are they though? Everyone keeps mentioning them as certainties, but I keep looking at the table every week, and they always seem pick up points and stay a couple of matches away from the relegation zone.
They are picking up points when not playing well, which is golddust, however watching them over the past month they have been awful.
They've stopped creating chances and atm are getting very lucky, that won't continue.
Two first choice CHs out now, Boly for the rest of the season and McKenna 6 weeks.
Can see them struggling to pick up wins and as soon as they get close to bottom 3 the nervousness hits.
A complete mixed bag of individual players that haven't shown any pedigree to be ready for a relegation battle.
In saying that, I'd near give a testicle to have 25pts just now!

On what basis tho aside from them being smaller clubs? Saints have won something more games in a month than Leeds in four.
