The Patriots finished a ridiculous 11-5 with Matt freaking Cassel in the year Brady was hurt very early in the season. No one remembers this b/c of a historic season where that wasn't good enough to make the playoffs. Belichick got Cassel paidAnd don't forget that for most of his time in New England, the rest of the AFC East was absolute dogturd. That was a guaranteed six wins almost every season; one hell of a head start toward making the playoffs.
I'm not a Brady hater. It just is what it is - the Patriots were the best franchise for 20 years. Great coach. Great QB. Great defenses, generally. It takes a lot of things to go your way to win super bowls
