A very good win on Saturday, and a vital one, but these player have shown time and time again that they can get up for the odd game and then be awful for the next half a dozen, how many times have we been here praising Coleman etc and the next week we are back to being inept, so the last line from Dyche on Saturday was important "come in Monday ready to work"
The four games after Liverpool are absolutely massive, we will know then where we stand

I actually think they’ll both suit our new found style. Both try to press high and to apply pressure but neither can seem to breakdown a low block and have defences leakier than Rebekah Vardy.

I know I shouldn’t be but I’m actually quite confident. Obviously this means 0 points incoming

The game against Arsenal, I expected it. I looked through Dyche’s Burnley statistics for games at home against the “top” sides and they were usually pretty even.

Away from home is a completely different style and hopefully he’ll be judged over a longer period away from home, if we do lose on Monday.

We can’t really score, so keeping it tight is a must. With a little extra confidence and fitness, DCL probably slides in and gets that goal, so there’s confidence.

Sit in tight and frustrate Liverpool and get Anfield moaning, and we present ourselves a very good opportunity of walking away with more than nothing. Important to not give away an early goal.

I said it throughout Lampard's final few months that a competent manager keeps us up and I still back that. The team's not great, but people were defo blowing out of proportion how bad we are.

I can see 4/5 wins from these games, mostly the home ones, and that should see us safe.

I see your point, but this is Everton, and I fancy our chances more against Spurs, Newcastle and City at home than I do against Brentford, Villa and Fulham.

We’ve had one game with Dyche so far, and whilst it was a fantastic effort, I feel it’s worth putting into perspective that Lampards opening home games saw us thrash Brentford and Leeds.

Need consistency first, and if we can be consistent then I don’t see a reason why your prediction isn’t too far off being correct. There’s a long, long way to go.

I wouldn't sit in too much against them. Arsenal struggled on Saturday because we pressed and didnt give them time to settle at all. Every team that's beaten Liverpool this season has pressurised them and given them no time on the ball. I can see us giving them a game if we do the same.

Agreed. It is going to come down to our home form again, if we can pick up 3/4 home wins and a couple wins/battling draws away from home we will be ok.

Think it’s time for Big red to be a possibility about going down. Long as the FA play by the rules and don’t stop letting mad rules get in the way to keep them up. be the first team no doubt to be in the championship and champions league.

People keep mentioning the Brentford and Leeds games under Lampard.

Brentford was a cup game. It wasn’t their priority at all, and at the time they were also in a relegation battle. They’ve improved this season no doubt but last season we would be expecting to beat them at home to stay up (as we would have done at the end of the season without scandalous refereeing)

Leeds were a complete shambles under Bielsa who was about to be fired and had most of their top players missing.

Both teams were utterly shot of confidence and unlikely to even win away from home let alone turn around a deficit once we went one up.

It’s just in no way anyway similar to beating Arsenal’s first 11 who were focused on winning for their title race. The golf in quality between Brentford and Leed’s second strings and Arsenal’s first 11 is just massive.

I agree, I wouldn’t either.

But if you look at how Dyche traditionally set up away from home against the “big” sides, it’s how he tends to set up.

Try and hit them on the counter with a sucker punch. You never know, he may well see the collective at Everton better than the ones he had at Burnley, and be more adventurous, but I think wolves had the right idea on Saturday, defend in numbers and play to liverpools weaknesses, which is whipping balls into the box.

Be interesting to see how he plays it out, but I imagine it’ll be contain, frustrate and try to nick it.

The worrier in me looks at May, and sees no games against sides on the beach, so it could genuinely be a case of getting points on the board asap, and take ourselves out the equation.

My point is just trying to balance everything out.

The win was fantastic, fully deserved and a huge reason to have optimism. The one thing I don’t want to do, is start placing pressure on them again.

Survival is very much in our hands, and they’ve given me an infinite reason to be upbeat, but there’s a long way to go. These players have given up before, for several managers.

I guess my point is we faced recently sides in Wolves, Southampton and West Ham who equally had no confidence, and our players didn’t turn up. The players turned up when it suited them.
Keep consistent under Dyche, and I feel well breeze out of the relegation battle, but I’m taking nothing for granted.
