Possibly operating with that level of pragmatism may be our best way to get out of the championship in a year's time. If most these players would expect a move come summer anyway from relegation, your'e better selling them at premier league rates than when the drop happens and the returns get cut in half. A reality that would lead us with almost no funds to buy. Thats how you end up Sunderland. Facts are this is where we are.
I know, really fear for the future, but we have to be realistic. Don't want a fire sale in June.

He has to be responsible for the transfer that fell through under his watch. He is the director of football. He is accountable for recruitment. If he isn't, then he shouldn't be at the club. So, as I see it, he is just another body/problem getting in the way of a solution.
He's not in proper control. The transfer fell through because the manager was fired and Moshiri fired the manager.

Whats up with this lad, is he really that bad now?
Yes. It is only because he is a local that some of the deluded fans among us ever thought he was good. He can run...that's about it.
He's miles from being a consistent performer at Prem. level and my personal opinion is he's a mid level Championship player, at best.
With the right coaching, attaining the right aptitude and working his socks off, he could improve but I rather doubt it will as it looks like a few decent games last season have gone to his head and he believes he's better than he is.

Exactly. The Director of Football is not in control.

So goodbye, Kevin.

He is in an untenable position. He can't do his job. Under Moshiri and this board, the DoF position is utterly spurious. The only point of the DoF position is to manage the club regardless of managerial churn. At our club, this is not possible. Nothing personal, Kevin, but you're not actually of any use.

He's basically Dan James, he's just a pace merchant. Albeit one that can't ever stay on his feet.

Bloke hasnt even hired a head of recruitment.

Bizarre isnt the word.

Gibbs-White £42.5mil including add ons.

Has to be above that.
Why? Gibbs_White can actually control and pass a football without constantly falling down. MGW can also open up defences as he has vision.
AG... he can run and fall down. If we got anywhere near MGW's fee, I'd be ecstatic.

Personally the caveats as to why we should sell far outweigh holding. For starters Gordon currently makes very little alteration to game to game results. At present he is replacement level regardless of his ceiling. Thats all just to say presently he is not a major distinguisher in survival or not.

But more broadly we have a very real possibility of going down. If that happens AG's fee would be sliced in half. Factor that we have almost no other value propositions and I dont see where funds appear for re-investment be in the premier league or championship. Gordon is an engaging prospect, but his price is also inflated possibly from being english and youth rank pedigree. If he can be leveraged into funds its not unrealistic intelligently invested we could garner two or three players with similar prospect pedigree and current quality from his return. Unfortunately or not, at present that is more valuable. Newcastle has the resources to spend and can take the flyer with more assurance elsewhere. After Chelsea's wing depth add's I fail to see who might be coming to the table with similar pockets.

In almost every way I see it the pragmatic choice is to leverage the wealthiest club for a decent return.

This is a fair enough assessment. My point of view is if we want any chance of staying up we need to keep whatever we have to try to do that. I can’t see us signing anyone now.

These teams werent after MGW. Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle want Gordon.

Must be a reason for it so the MGW fee should be the low benchmark.
