We could offer them England’s number one goalkeeper, they can have Gordon as well. Spurs were happy for us to wheel and deal with them this time last year, Levy and Kenwright are bum chums, I believe.

After watching Lloris today for Spurs I'd say Conte would jump at the chance to sign Pickford

The most obvious answer is probably the correct one - we're skint.

We could sell someone like Pickford, but any club with a brain would probably wait for the relegation fire sale coming our way in about 5 months.

It's loans on deadline day I suspect, picking at the scraps that no competent clubs want.

Indeed. And if there really is no money left, I think we will have to be creative, just like we were with Dele Alli this time last year. Let's face it, a free transfer with an obligation to pay some money only if he ever manages 20 appearances was previously unheard of, but this is Moshiri's Everton. He/we don't do normal.

Personally, I’m glad we did that crazy deal. It might not have been great value, but he did play a role in keeping us up. Same with Delph, who was a far worse signing. When your objective is to not be one of the three worst teams in the league, even crap players like Delph and Alli can make the difference. As crap as they were, we’d be in the championship now without the contributions of Delph and Alli last season.
