January Transfer Window 2023

Wouldn’t work like that unfortunately. As soon as we became contractually liable for the severance it hits this years accounts, even if they agreed we wouldn’t pay it for 20 years. Transfers are the same. Which is why all the talk of us missing out on targets like Cornet etc because we wanted tiny initial payments to get round FFP/P&S was bollox. Either we were sensible and knew they were turd (unlikely) or the transfer taps had already been turned off (probably).

Fair enough, interesting to know.

However, we could feasibly defer the new manager's salary until July, no? His contract would have a very basic wage until July, then he gets a bonus to reflect the work he's already done, and his new salary is dependent on what league we are in!

Again, I acknowledge it's a bit far fetched, but it's a potential solution to this issue where we supposedly have to choose between sacking Frank or signing new players.

It would also, in all liklihood, be the most lucrative contract of Sean Dyche's life. He will never have the opportunity to sign such a lucrative contract in his entire life! He'd be mad to turn it down tbh.

It's not complete pie in the sky, Dele Ali was brought in on a very similar deal this time last year!

Zapata this season.

Zapata all time stats.

Ellis Simms was being abused and he's only just arrived back from being on loan at Sunderland and has played a handful of minutes. It's abhorrent behaviour, and players will be turned away by it.

COYB!

John.
I agree its unacceptable and distracts from the protest against the board which was largely peaceful with the sit in. But the boards antics have also stoked this anger, it could get a lot uglier because they stick their heads in the sand and now blame the fans it will only enrage them. As for whether players would join. I think if we get a decent manager and a few results players would join if we continue down this crisis route you have a point.

Seriously??? Like every single South American, Turkish and Italian players deal with Ultra’s who make our lads display yesterday look like a belly tickle. They shouted some abuse at crap players, Bielsa had to threaten protesting supporters with a hand grenade when they were outside his gaff in Argentina?
the only negative effect recruitment wise is that players agents will increase their wage demands!
We became a whole lot less attractive to everyone yesterday. The turmoil at the club is there for all to see.

We need to attract one or two significantly better players than we currently have. We’re competing against our direct competitors who all look in better shape.

Fans blockading roads and directing violence towards players is an appalling image.

The only reason clubs sell players with 50p up front is because somebody has recognised the player is no use . We are their first port of call and keep falling for it . Just want to cry we are in such a mess !
