January Transfer Window 2023

How long am I prepared to wait ?... or do what ?.... hold my breath until I go blue ?

The window closes on Jan 31st and so I suppose I am prepared to wait until then.

However, I don't want signings just for the sake of it , I want signings that will improve us as a team and also hopefully gain in value. I would prefer younger players .

Players are contracted to their clubs and cannot leave until the club approves it. We want good players and in January clubs will not release their better players easily. That is how the system works and thinking that players can be signed at will is juvenile thinking imo.
You can of course just throw in a stupidly high bid and you will then probably sign the player for sure but following that path already has us in a mess.

The club has targets undoubtedly but I don't think we know who our main targets are.
I absolutely do believe we have made enquiries about lots of players as every club does just to establish if they are available and I assume we have lots of clubs asking about our players but that may never go further than the initial question about availability.

Waiting until deadline day does not increase the chances of us getting our main targets. It actually dramatically decreases them and potentially allows other clubs to steal in ahead of us. The only thing waiting until the end of the window does is guarantee that we’ll be scrambling around desperately for other club’s dregs once again.

No signings still almost half way through the window, looks clear we need players to move on before we can get anyone in, honestly cannot believe the money we have wasted over the years to find ourselves in this mess.

I find it mad that wolves who have spent more
Than us in the last 6yrs and apparently had to sell in the summer,
Went on the to have a debt on spending of something like 80mil and have done another 40 on loan to obligation and now
Spending another 17mil. Maybe they’re going to sell nunez and neves before June 30th, there’s an idea Everton.

I know it’s probably wages and paying off managers and staff,
That has killed us, but it’s frustrating

Edit they’re also buying lemina think he used to play for Southampton? Another 10mil

Will add actually Southampton have brought in 3 players...a CM, CB, and a striker.

Whatever the most detrimental option is, that’s what we’ll do. We’re predictable in the worst way. Every time.

Are you referring to yourself? Look at the way you’re ejaculating all over Rondon’s thread when we sign him.

But im not complaining about a lack of business am I ?

The same people who are doing so are often the same who then moan whenever we sign a player who isn't too drawer but sadly in January most good players that are available will cost you a wedge - something we seem to not have currently.

We all want signings coming in but we have to be realistic when scrutinising the DOF - he's not working with the kind of budget where you can just "get it done".

Think we need to move on from the two Lorient players sharpish if we haven't already. The last thing a new ownership model will be looking to do after buying a new club is sell two star players when their new asset is already having a good season.

It's already criminal that we haven't brought anyone in but the Southampton game is looking more and more like a do or die game for Lampard and they probably don't want to blow the budget, if there even is one, on players he wants whilst his position is so precarious.
