We apparently had an offer in the last window for 60 mill for Gordon. Rooney went for a record fee as a teenager back in the day and probably saved the club at the time. Rodwell and Barkley both went for decent fees.

Osman and Hibbert spent the entirety of their careers in our first team. Vaughan Anichebe Davies have all contributed.

I’m not sure we can say that the academy has produced nothing.

Jon-Joe Kenny, Francis Jeffers, Antonee Robinson, Shane Duffy, Richard Dunne.

We actually do all right academy wise and have done for a long time. Don’t have many that are making the grade right now, but Gordon has the potential. I think the issue is, we often leave it too long before making money off them and several leave for free.

Problem with our club is we’d rather buy a journey man on excessive wages than risk putting a few youth players in.
