Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, what a grey day! Off to a Christmas Market with son and family this morning, just a local one not as grand as Raby Castle @anjelikaferrett , have fun. Have been invited to daughters’ this evening to watch the match, granddaughters are mightily amused by me shouting “Pickers!”. Hoping I don’t have to do that today and he has a quiet game. I don’t suppose you will have time to read this @blue1948 I expect Father Christmas will have put an extra special present on the sleigh in recognition of your hard work. lol Have a good one all.?

Neighbour just called. He wants to go and watch the match later at a pub in Pool, near Cambourne. It's his friends local. and we're meeting him there. His friend is a really good guy, a West Ham fan, and a proper drinker. So i'm expecting to have a few shandies, I mean it would be rude not to.

My neighbour is not really a footie fan. he's more into his cars and formula 1, So I doubt very much he'd be bothering if it wasn't for me. I'm not overly bothered about the match myself but I don't often get out for a drink so it's a no brainer. Maybe I'll get more excited if we progress beyond France in the quarters.

I'll get the update on his sister in law who, I think I mentioned, is over from South Africa for medical tests. Well it's not looking good as it's almost certainly breast cancer. She met with the consultant on Friday so should know the prognosis and have some idea of the course of treatment. Fingers crossed it's as straightforward as possible. Apparently her lymph nodes are clear but I don't know how they can confirm this until they have physically removed and tested one. Unless procedures have improved since cal had her breast cancer.

Have a good day everyone. And come on England. lol And the Irish too.

Hello everybody. Just got back from the Christmas market. Unfortunately no pics. It was absolutely tipping down, me and Mr F are like two drowned rats in spite of having our big coats on and an umbrella! First person I bumped into in the car park was my team leader who was on his way home. I bought some locally produced gin, some toffee vodka which I discovered last year at Tebay Services Farm Shop, It is divine, quite syrupy and goes nicely on ice cream or with prosecco. Bought some other bits and pieces which will be stocking fillers for our kids. I am getting serious amounts of grief from the daughter for forgetting to buy her an advent calendar. "It's the first time since I was born that I haven't had one. 25 YEARS!"

Added bonus was that my Christmas savings paid out today. I save up with somebody in work - have done for the last five years. It's great.

Hope you are all having a lovely day.

Hi gang , still Riyadh for a couple of weeks . No problems watching the games … my hotel has created a large dry bar and called the stadium , generally a great atmosphere for most of the games

That was a common thing when I was a lad they called it a tontine and it helps with the christmas burden ,I once worked for Mcalpines and they paid our salary in 1/13ths giving us two at the end of November. Advent calender sickness in this house as well the boss has had one every year of his 68 and the looking starts very early "To find the right one " .Good luck drying out.

Good morning all on this mild day here in Hyvinkää ,I hope all had a great kip and are ready to face the new dawn. Up and dressed early as we have to get to the garage to have the car exhaust repaired ,I looked for a replacement price to do it myself and it was and still is I am £1000 for a Nissan Juke and worse still I use a company on the net for parts .
They mailed saying that they would mail me when they are available !! It would seem that Covid has had something to do with the extraction of real metals used in the catalytic converter ( The part that cleans the gases before the get into the air for those who don't share my enthusiasm".
Anyway the guy is going to weld the hole up for 50€ it will take all of 10 mins uncluding lifting the car up .It does frighten me the way things are with prices lately .
Have a great day all
Oh England were flattered again ,the French will not fold as Senegal did .

Do you not fancy it? Quarter final v France will be a cracking game.

Morning all. Bit grey and cloudy here again today. Enjoying the pics of Riyadh @fandjango. Pity about the Christmas market @anjelikaferrett, have you dried out yet? Hope the Christmas fair went well @jazzy and it wasn’t too cold. Had an interesting trip to the market we went to yesterday. Bought some tree ornaments, available in combinations of red/white or blue/white bells and snowmen on red/white or blue/white cord. Red ones at the front which the lady offered as they were easier to get off the display, cue dismantling of the display as I insisted on the blue/white. You always get one. lol . Bought some knitted ornaments off the youth club stall because I felt sorry as they weren’t selling very well, didn’t let the fact that the lad in charge of the stall was wearing a RS jumper put me off. Had a go on the tombola then noticed most of the prizes involved meat in some form or other, still I never win on these things and it was for charity. I did win but needn’t have worried about the meat, my prize was a tin of prunes, still it will keep me “regular”.
Have a good day, all.?

I’m up north in Belfast tomorrow and am planning a stroll through the Christmas market. Haven’t been at it in years but if I remember right it was very expensive last time. I will try to be good and not nip into the beer tent.

Hi folks. Are you watching Brazil? That first half was something else. How did we let Richy go for a mere £60m? I will never get over that.

It's been freezing today - apparently we have snow forecast for next week. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen.
Was talking to a Leeds fan today and he said that Richy never showed any signs of having that ability at Everton. It just shows you how our negative press coverage can really pull the wool over some people’s eyes.

And yeah the fact he is playing with Neymar and Vinicius does help his output!

I've had that conversation with quite a few Newcastle fans. I told them to watch him for the whole game - he never stops running. Agree with you about negative coverage. The media are fawning over him now he's left us. However the BBC are still at it. There's an article about Brazil's young guns on their website. Lists them all - except Richy!
