Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Well my well planned trip is on hold as the missus has stumbled out walking to keep fit ! And broken her leg right above her ankle so living where we are it is off for a while until she is mobile again .You can just see the break bottom right . So I am head cook and bottle washer until the boss says enough.View attachment 191697
Ouch. Hope she isn't in too much pain and makes a speedy recovery. She has an excellent nurse!

Evening all.

Mum update. Has an appointment on Monday to take a look at her wrist, and a small op to lob a plate in. She is utterly arsed about it!

Today, she had arranged a hair appointment at a salon near her on the Marina.

Me. "Mum, I will drive you there"

Mum. "Dont be daft, Ive bust me wrist, not me foot. Its 5 minutes away"

She is back, safe and sound, and taking her shopping tomorrow.
Awesome. Your Mum is a star

I would buy him a pint and show him his first glimpse of Ibrox.
Only ever been to Glasgow once. Celtic 0-3 PSG.

Went for a day out and didn’t really care about the result. I vaguely support Celtic by way of everyone at home does and Rangers make it easy to dislike them.

Do you think Ange would be a good fit here if the trigger is pulled?

Thought about Ange, I actually like his style, he just quietly gets on with the job, no fuss, no predictions but gets results with style.
No success in Europe but he hasn't got the budget to progress any further than he has.
Have you asked Corky if he things Van B. would be a good fit here?

Good morning all on this fine cold day -6° here in Finland ,just think I was heading to Spain where it is 20° ,they say everything happens for a reason . I got my car hire back but ryanair have gobbled up my money .I hope all had a good night and have a better day the match is at 5am tomorrow for me so if I can find it I will be up an hour earlier .Talk about a glutton for punishment :)

Laughed reading this. She sounds amazing mate.

There is a definite fortitude about older generations that I don’t always see in kids. Yeah I know I sound old saying that but the social media generation just aren’t quite as battle hardened for life as we ourselves likely were at that age.
There's a lot of tough and resilient children out there, way beyond their years, but I do feel that in general you're right about having less resilience.

I'm basing this on my eldest, but in some ways they feel they are older than they are (except this... demand this... my rights...), yet ironically are far more reliant.

The fortitude part (or lack of) is part of that because perhaps as a generation we've protected them too much, so they haven't had to build their resilience.

Taking it away from my family, I see this in my specific profession; I'm aghast when they cry and moan about what they're expected to do as part of the role.

With you there, optimistic.
Karl, aka messymascot, passed away last Dec. This thread was kept open in honour to his unfailing optimism and faith in humanity and is a fitting tribute. We like to think of it as Messy’s coffee shop (although he preferred tea lol ) where anyone can pop in from time to time and be amongst friends.?

Agree that we likely have protected our kids too much and I’m guessing that is due to the internet and the ease of access to things we really don’t want them to have. On the other side of that, the idyllic lifestyles portrayed by influencers bear no resemblance to what life can be really like and I understand how kids can struggle to process that.

Madness really when I think how anything technology related I hand to my kids to fix despite me thinking I am protecting them from life lol
