Absolutely loved him. Then Moyes worked his tactical magic and he changed from one of the coolest finishers i've ever seen to someone who looked scared of entering the box right before my very eyes. He even bought his Strike partner from Rangers in the summer to "support" him, and played him right wing to break his spirit too.

That 1st 6 months though was more than enough to earn him a place in my all time "What if" 11, along with Marco Materazzi, Manuel Fernandes and James Rodriguez.

I can only dream
It was a patch so purple that even Prince himself would have been proud

He genuinely looked world class for a period and then it seemed to dawn on him that he wasn't

One of the strangest downturns I've seen in my Everton watching history

Forest Leeds Southampton

Thing with Leeds is they're that sort of hyperactive team that can always pull out a result when needed, I've watched them a few times this season and they're not bottom 3 bad, they gave Arsenal as good a game as any have this season and should never have lost and also outplayed Palace first half away before losing.

They also had Forest at home postponed when they had a good start to the season so that derailed them a bit.

Forest and Southampton will be in the mix in April/May for sure as will Bournemouth so I'd still say that looks a more than likely bottom 3.

However after the last 12 months and this plodding point per game start no one at all should be getting complacent on here.

West Ham are crap this season, so are Palace, most of the bottom 10 clubs are crap. I think Leicester will pull away though, they will get over their crap start, as they aren't as crap as their current league position would suggest.

It's why home games against crap sides like Palace actually are 'must win' games, although some will accuse you of being dramatic for saying so. If we hadn't beat Palace the other week, where would we be right now? The same goes for our home game against Bournemouth next week, it is a MUST WIN. Fail to win a game like that and we are in all kinds of trouble.

Yeah for so many "crap" teams in the league I'm afraid this side just dosen't look very capable of winning away games at said mediocre teams. Villa right at the start of the season was massive missed opportunity as one example.

People the other week were demanding a win at Newcastle. That's a side who have made St James a fortress again and have won 3 of their last four away and also got a point at Man. United in the other. That's the formula you need to challenge top 6 and this club is miles off that now.

You generally need 10 league wins to be pretty confident of staying up. Needed an 11th win over Palace to secure safety before final day.

Let's say there's just one more away win all season (hopefully not but if there's no win at Bournemouth....). Would then mean 6 more home wins are needed. Given there's 12 left at Goodison it's a 50% win ratio. So if Wolves on Boxing day is just a low scoring draw then have to win the next game etc.

It's not a healthy situation. Certainly don't want to get into the state of having to win four of the final six homes to stay up narrowly again. I'm sure the crowd will do their best again with flares and everything but this season already is starting to have a depressing air to it with lack of goals so most games are going to be a struggle to win bar the odd one where it all clicks as v Palace.

Were away against Bournemouth, we don't play them at home until May hopefully we're safe then

Look we were awful last night, but come on if we turn up like we did against palace we end up mid table. Palace beat west ham today they're decent. We got a point at Fulham which we usually lose and beat Southampton away ,big week ahead yes but I do think we will fumble along to mid table in the end...
LOL. Christmas has come early?

If we can’t finish ahead of Bournemouth after 38 games we deserve to go down. I have a feeling about Brentford. It might be Forest, Bournemouth and Brentford

In fairness Newcastle looked average in that first half against us. It is difficult to find the balance. It is interesting comparing us with Leeds who are a similar level but have a different approach. We try to set a solid foundation and nick a win if a chance presents itself. Leeds go for the throat. The upshot for us is we will nick a few low scoring draws away from home that Leeds won’t. The downside is we won’t win as many games. We are not capable of a result like the one they had at Anfield because we are not brave enough. In terms of staying in the division I suspect ours is probably the better approach as they are open to taking a few hammerings that can lead you into a lengthy run a defeats and a bad goal difference. They are certainly a more exciting watch though

Never mind those games mentioned what about our utter failure against Leicester.
